ok got some questions. couldn't find the answer in the "bible" nor with a search.

I blew my rear axle last weekend (I will put pics below). it was a dana 44 so obvousely I am looking to upgrade.

went to the local pull-a-part and did some searching. I found a
'64 international pickup that had a 6 lug rear full floating axle. I an 99% sure it was a 60. it was also on of those trucks that have all the tool boxes on the back

my questions are:
1) is it defiantely a 60
2) is the bolt pattern 6 on 5.5 or 6 on something else
3) any one know the width WMS to WMS
4) I have 15" rims will they fit over those HUGE brakes?
5) is this a standard 60 so any dana 60 locker will work

I went there during work in work clothes so I didn't even remember a tape measure other wise 99% of these questions would have already been answered.

early D60....

"probably" a coarse spline, 16 IIRC, weaker, but you can always swap out for 30 spline stuff.

Not sure on width, someone may, but best would be to just grab a tape measure.

the bolt pattern is the worce. its 6 on HUGE, very hard to fine big 6-lug that early pick-ups used....

Probably best to leave it, unless you want it as a housing to start with.... Lop off the ends of the D60, then lop off the ends of your D44, turn them down to press in the tubes of the D60. Swap out carriers to a 35-spline, then order up some nice Dutchman 35-spline shafts in what ever pattern you want.

Not a FF, but damn neer bullet proof....

It's probably a Dana 60.

It has a BIG 6-lug BUDD bolt pattern.

It has hard to find and expensive drums.

It's likely 16-spline 'shafts.

Gajeepyj....there are a but load of 60's and 14 bolts at the pull a part in conley and norcross...i also ran across a rear 70...they only want 80 bucks for these axles, they price em on what is most commonly bought...not what they are. I am going tomorrow to pick up a 14 bolt (for me) and a FF rear 60 30 spline for my friend, thats only 160 bucks for that stuff. There are 3 FF rear 60's at the one in norcross, and about 4 FF rear 60's at the one in conley, thats where the FF 35 spline 70 is at also, it doesn't have the carrier, but it does have the bearing caps and shafts. Also there are two 8 lug front chevy 44's with flat tops, one is at norcross and the other at conley. The one at norcross is in really good cond. Anyway they don't know what knuckles are so i told them 20 bucks and they said that is fine!! I could probably get the crappy chevy 44 w/ flat tops for 20 bucks as there are no shafts and diff cover, and looks really nasty. shoot me a PM
