Effective for the 2009 season, the Colorado Hill Climb Association will include a Rock Race division designed specifically for Rock Race vehicles (solid axle 4-wheel drive). The CHCA board of directors unanimously passed the proposal from JT Taylor at the September board meeting, and JT has accepted the position of division representative for CHCA.
Official rules will be posted in January for the division.
CHCA has five hill climb races every year, with a sixth race included every other year. All races are on dirt roads that wind through the Colorado high country at speeds of over 60 MPH.
........
Congrats to JT, Jack Childers and all of the other rock racers that participated in the final two CHCA races in 2008. They proved that a rock racer is able to compete in hill climb series, and they did it professionally and with class despite other racers initial negative sentiments. Kudos to you guys....and I still think you're nuts for driving full hydro around hair pin turns at 40 MPH!
