Effective for the 2009 season, the Colorado Hill Climb Association will include a Rock Race division designed specifically for Rock Race vehicles (solid axle 4-wheel drive). The CHCA board of directors unanimously passed the proposal from JT Taylor at the September board meeting, and JT has accepted the position of division representative for CHCA.
Official rules will be posted in January for the division.
CHCA has five hill climb races every year, with a sixth race included every other year. All races are on dirt roads that wind through the Colorado high country at speeds of over 60 MPH.

........

Congrats to JT, Jack Childers and all of the other rock racers that participated in the final two CHCA races in 2008. They proved that a rock racer is able to compete in hill climb series, and they did it professionally and with class despite other racers initial negative sentiments. Kudos to you guys....and I still think you're nuts for driving full hydro around hair pin turns at 40 MPH!

Awesome job once again Jt on bringing it to the next level. I think a lot of us racers will be showing up to try out a less destructive form of racing. Thanks By the way, where would a person get some of those pikes peak special tires, what are they running, pricey? Are those the tires to have?

Awesome! It's great to have some more racing close to home. I imagine we could do a couple in '09.

Heck yes! I'm working to get Lands End to the top by 2010, and I committed to be race director through then...if not longer.

Less destructive as long as you stay on the road!! We are in:smokin:

Yeah def if you stay on the road, otherwise it could end up being way more destructive:eek: Either way sounds like a good time with good people!

JT called today to give me the good news. Mike and Jody will be working with the dates so they dont conflict with the XRRA series.

We had fun racing the Lands End Hill Climb last month, and look forward to competing an entire season in the CHCA. Unfortunately, due to a lack of sponsorship funds and the buggy being out of commission for engine repairs, we will not be able to compete in the XRRA Finals next weekend in Jellico. We will stay busy until the XRRA and CHCA race seasons start by repairing our current race buggy, and planning our next project- building a new racer for 2010. Again, we are looking forward to a busy XRRA & CHCA race season next year! We hope to see everyone at the events.
