: Narrowing D44F, what would you want?
binderbound 09-11-2008, 09:55 AM I have a pile of D44F's I'm gonna narrow down to Scout size but jeep spring width, since that seems to be the biggest hang up jeep guys have with scout axles. Question is, what jeep should I build these for? CJ? Wrangler? TJ? Who would be my biggest market?
Thanks!
pyrocrat 09-11-2008, 05:15 PM Jeepers are inherantly cheap asses , I built some for CJ's and then couldn't give'em away , so don't go crazy .Cj guys want pass drop , YJ guys want drivers drop .If these are spring over , that will make it harder to sell .
Question ,do you have a line on scout II inner axles , I need both sides .

I think I've seen this same quote in all of the other forums with the Jeep changed to whatever forum it is in. Everyone on pirate seems to think they can make everything themself. If you are gonna sell these, you need to find a place with more affluent wheelers:D

runemuck 09-11-2008, 06:51 PM Well when and if I could afford one..YJ SUA
binderbound 09-11-2008, 08:36 PM Thats so weird. I cant keep an empty, bare scout housing for more than a few days before some jeep guy hauls it off for $200. Problem is, I hate parting out scouts. I got these chevy ones that are just asking to be narrowed down. I think I'll do one of each. CJ SOA and a YJ SOA. 7* of pinion angle and 5* of caster should be enough for everyone to work with.
crashnzuk 09-11-2008, 09:41 PM Are you gonna just offer them as bare housings, or will they have as much in 'em as you want to buy? What's your price point for one?

Yeah, prices start at bare housings. Cleaned, narrowed, caster set, pinion angle set, spring spacing/pad set $250. Add flat tops, drilled and milled ($150), ball joints($150)$550. Add gears($140) set up kit($125) locker ($600 to $900) etc, etc, etc...
I'll be coming to through sacto in about 3 weeks. I'll deliver for free if you meet me off a major freeway. Preferably a rest stop. At night. In the mens room.:flipoff2:
PM me if your interested in the axle anyway:D

I got some scout axles lying around. The short inners are very close to waggy inners. might want to go that route.

That actually doesn't sound bad, but with the wife not working at the moment I'll have to wait. I have a pass drop J20 axle with full high steer, 4.10s and a lockright that I've been trying to figure out what to do with. Might be good to swap the goods onto a drop-in housing.
