Anyone found a semi-drop in larger booster? I bought one from a one-ton truck (I've got an 81 4x4) - but it required a massage with a hammer to get it to fit and didn't last long. Basically we need something same diameter - longer total length? dunno.. Bigger booster would be nic.e.

Anyone have any luck upgrading to a larger booster?
There is a larger booster from a one-ton toy, but it requires a pretty good massage to get it to fit (too large diameter - interferes with steering). any other options?

Run a vacume tank from an early Volvo 144/124 sedan.

Well, I hope you got good service from this guy, I just called and ordered one from him. $70 plus $15 to my door. I like it when you call a junkyard and they quote you the same price someone else got.

Thanks for the referral.

No a 2wd booster won't work. I transplanted a 2wd body onto my 82 and tried the 2wd booster. The spacer behind the booster is too small and the booster ends up interfering with your steering. I can't remember if the spacer is removable, I just ended up putting my 4wd one back in. But the master cylinder and everything else is interchangeable.

Actually, a 2WD booster and MC will work just fine. I put an 84 2WD body on my 83 4wd frame and it all works great. That's why I have an 83 booster (and MC) available. :p

It should but I can't say for sure. AFAIK there is no difference between 2WD and 4WD cabs, so the holes for clutch MC, booster, etc should be the same.
I have the truck here at work today so at lunch I'll go out and try to measure the bolt pattern on the 84 2WD cab.

It was hard to fit a ruler up under the dash so the measurements might be off a little. The bolts are 2 3/4" c-t-c top to bottom and 3 7/8" c-t-c side to side. Tonite I'll try to compare p/n's between 2WD and 4WD boosters, they could even be the same.

A T100 booster should work.

I took the booster from my wife's '97 T100 and put it in my 4runner to see if it would work. The diameter was about the same, but its a bit thicker (dual diaphram I'd guess), and it has a lot more brake assist.

If an '86 booster will work in your truck, then the T100 one should too. I'm going to put on in my 4runner (permanently next time).

I live in pineridge and drive a rusty toyota.

I might have an extra. I'll take a look later this week.

I haven't been to pick-your-part lately, but I was at Buck$ on Saturday and not a toy truck in sight. But I got a 22R block for $7.25!!
