Gotcha, thanx guys...I was thinking of checking those boards out and I was looking through a couple of Dirt Sports mags here at work,i just wanted to see what people had done on this board. He wants to do something similar to this,I personaly like them closer to the front of the cab.

The ones that hang off the front of the cab are my personal favorite also. Just make sure you have a solid foundation inside(ie Cab Cage) to mount the down bars to.

The ones that are in the back like the pic you posted above are good to, but imho looks tacky.

The reason they put them back there is for glare. The top of the cab blocks the lights from lighting up the hood.

If you put them on the front you need to have some type of guard so you can see past your bumper.

6 HID`s on a pivot rack with electric "actuator ram" to adjust the beam height.

but i personally dont like all that weight on the roof (i like to turn hard and a low center of gravity is very important to me)
here is what i like to do for a low C of G:

3-4 HID`s on a removable nose rack; no glare issues and works perfect for dune night rides ...but maybe for the desert (and on a wider truck nose) i would add a light or two ;)
btw notice how the fabricated lightbar base acts as a extension for the skidplate (if you run out of talent at night:eek: )

Awesome, thanx for the info fellas!!!.Well it looks like he wants to do the one towards the front of the cab but I'm reading what TotalImortal wrote and it makes sense. Is it a big issue with windshields?.Is there anything you can do to prevent that other than removing the windshield?.Thanx again for the info guys :smokin:

infernal
some guys run a aluminum shield on the lower part of the lightbar (that blocks the light from highlighting the dust on the windshield)
a flat black hood area is also doing wonders.
one problem we see a lot in the dunes is that when you follow each other closely on a nightride , the lights on the roof highlight the dust in the air right in front of your field of vision . IMHO that is less of a problem with lower (nose) mounted lights . kinda the same reason why foglights are supposed to be mounted low

I was playing with the lights on my car and I noticed that would happen when a bunch of idiots would go flying down the dirt road in front of me.

Word peps

A quick fix ive seen guys do when the relize it looks gnar but u cant see shit.

is place tape on the bottom 1/3 of the light...

Ghetto but it works when u be out in the dez...

I recomend put it in the back because when u arnt using it you can fold it down, or take it off...

Here's a few of my lightbar on my Ranger. Although not shown in the pics, it has a simple wishbone style rear support with a clevis mount for easy adjustability. The clevis goes to a tab off the cage through the roof.

I was origionally gonna mount my lightbar off the front cage downtubes through the front window opening, but I wanted the option to run a window someday so we went through the roof instead. The lightbar goes through tubing down to the cage and is held in place with quick release pins.

This one was built by my buddies at Solo Motorsports, but I plan on copying it and putting the exact same style on my Toyota PU.

Like the others said before, check Race-Dezert and DesertRangers, lots of ideas on those sites.

Hope these help-
