I have a question for you guys. This thing says 2500, but I'm not sure why? 60 front 80 rear NV4500, cummins turbo etc etc. It could pull a freak'n train. What makes it 3/4 ton when it reads like a one ton?

My favorite is when it shifts, sounds JUST like a big rig!

Because the spring rate is set up for hauling 1500 (or so) pounds of crap in the bed.
Generally they are underrated however if you exceed the GVWR and get in a accident you could be in big trouble.

Besides, How many people on this board have 1/2 ton trucks that have dana 60's front and rear? It is not the axles that make a one ton truck...

Oh and Keith, don't forget to check the spark plugs gaps every 3000 miles. Diesel's run better with properly gapped spark plugs.

the reason its rated 3/4 ton is because it has more motor than ass. put a big load on it and you will see it sag like grannys tits.

Ok ok yes I understand spring rates. I thought that might be the case. But that's an easy upgrade. I'm talk'n bout the running gear. Stout. Very stout.

Wait till he changes the oil (if he can do that ) and doesnt know what to do with 3 gallons of oil coming out of his oil pan. Better get a real pan to drain that thing or you will have a HUGE mess!

I prefer a 3 1/2 gallon bucket (like a 5 gal, just shorter). And good luck getting the filter off its a new truck. There's a certain gorilla on the assembly line that likes to tighten the crap out of those things.

Get in the habbit of putting fuel additive in when you fill up. I use a brand called "Power Service". Added lubrication for your pump is what your after. Sh!tty CA clean burning fuel doesn't seem to lub as well. Also, try and buy your fuel from high volume dealers. Stay away from places that you never see anybody buying diesel at. How is your mileage. I was expecting better than I get. 16.5 on the freeway. It goes even lower with alot of city driving.

Will additive really make that huge of a difference? I have heard varying opinions so far on that.

I been getting around 17.5 all around...18-19 freeway and about 15+ around town. Thats just as good as my Tacoma was

Yes, the weak link in our 24 valve engines is the vp44 pump. It is cooled by the fuel. The less lub. properties the fuel has = the harder it is on our pump. Go to Walmart and pick youeself up some "Power Service" fuel additive (the same stuff that sells in truck stops) and use it for a few tanks. You should notice a differance right away. It will run more quit and better. It is only 3-4 $ a bottle. I bottle treats 100 gals. I cannot stress this last piece advice enough, spend time at the TDR site. Tons of useful info.
