440, first what are the chances of you breaking the cast crank? and its real easy to make a stump puller with a 440, also 383 might not have as much aftermarket support, i may be wrong, and sides, theres no mistaking a 440 for stupid chevy motor while some moron might think a stroker 350 when you say 383

The 440 will make more torque with its 3.75 stroke the 383 will spin faster with its 3.38 strokesi it all depends n what you are building it for... Personally I would get the 440..

Pretty tempting, but my group is having their annual pig roast today, and I'm obligated to get that sucker out of the pit when it's done. Next time give me a little more notice and I just might do it. I found one B engine in all the yards in the entire state of NM; it's a 400, no transmssion, they want $800.
Got any Dodge front 60's in the yards out there?
