i own a 67 C 20 3/4 ton 8 lug truck. The problem i have is that the truck has a 4 speed granny trans feeding a 5.13:1 rearend. However good that may seem for pulling out stumps it really does not work well at 75 on the freeway. I would like to do better that 5.13. The truck has a coil rear. What can i swap in there to make my vested interest in Exxon decrease? I prefer to find 3.73:1. i know Randy's Ring and Pinion can do 3.90:1 for about $900.00 but this is a bit mort than my budget can handle. I believe the rearend to be a Eaton HO52. However i may be wrong. THe cover has 10 bolts the ring gear is 10.5" and the spider has 4 gears. Any help is apprecieated. Thanks

Damn you got the gears..how 'bout doing some 44" tires and or overdrive trans?About the same price as getting new gears! If I had those gears I would install some 44's and cut some more fender!Mike

Well cutting the fenders is not what i want to do. I prefer to tend to the gears itself. I am not against putting in an overdrive trans. However what is the best manual recommendation? Trans or not i still need to tend to the gears. Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone else? Help

Look for a '72 3/4 ton 4x4. they put 4.10s in them either stock or optional. I have to find the glove box door in my garage for the one I cut up too see for sure on which it is. The center section drops out like a 9" does so you won't have to change the whole axle only the drop out.

& get up with "Partsjunkie" he seems to have many of these rear axles. Maybe he'll trade you so you can get what you want....or even sell you 1 ready to drop in.............
