: Welding carrrier to tubes?

Is it a good idea to weld the tube to the center section around the whole circumference of the tube/center section junction? Or, would it be a better idea to drill a couple of extra holes in the center section and rosette weld? I’m worried that this junction is designed to flex at different rates and welding it will crack the center section.

This is for a 8.8, and I’m worried about spinning the center section under power.

I'd do extra rosettes myself. Others on the board will tell you it'll never crack and to fully weld it. cast steel/ mild steel you make the gamble!

Or go with 2 or 3 1" welds but not the whole thing. I agree with Aggro

I would recommend 3 two inch long welds spaced evenly along the circumference of the tube. Tack weld these spots first, then do one inch strips and then go back in the same order and do the second inch of weld.

As for the kind of rod to use...I am not sure but some people on here seem to be expert welders and really do have a valid opinion on which rod would be best.
My guess is a rod with a high nickel content.
