My name is Danny.
This is my first major posting and I am a little nervous. I have watched how you guys are very hard on new comers. I have read most of the do's and dont's. So maybe I won't get torn a new one. :shaking:

I picked it up from my best friend. he bought it and put a lift on it. He drove it for about a year befor the Presto light equiped igntion quit. I got it running and he decided he did not have the "know how" or the time it was going to take. We traded for a Toyota pick-up.


This is when the real fun started. I decide to enbark on a never ending project. I ripped out all the carpet and found more rust than I have ever seen in my life.

The body mounts were also something to be desierd.

I started fixing all these things and in the end I learned alot about dody work.

After that I had a brain storm and I built my own rocker panels.

I cut the fenders and wheeled the s**t out of it.

I wish that I knew about this web sight before the build. It may not have taken as long as it did. It certainly would have cut out most of the trial and error. Now I am gathering parts to put a new drive train and axils in her.

Looks like you have repaired it pretty good. Your new body mounts look great. I wouldnt have put that much time into a wheeler.

What do you have in mind for axles and drivetrain?

I have a 1961 283 out of a Vet, buttoned up to a turbo 350, to an np205. The axils I plan to use are full width 14 bolt and a large hub dana 44.:D

The only thing that I am questioning is the 283. I have done some research and found that it is factory rated at 315 hp. I have no idea about the torque rating.

Thats my next project:laughing:. That is exactly what it is a bus.

Yawn... Sheet metal repair....blah blah.....small block....blah blah. Its been done to DEATH. You should be able to search out EVERYTHING you need to know. The next post we see from you should be 6 months from now with it done. And its 'axles', not axils.

:idea: I'm thinking that a real 1961 coded 283 is worth $$$$. Sell or trade for a good running EFI 5.7.

I have a set of the blingin' cast aluminum finned valve covers with "Corvette" cast into the top of them. They have the old style offset bolt pattern.

The newer blue paint is decieving. Danny kicked the driver rear quarter panel and a flattened beer can that had been bondo'd in fell on the ground. He knocked a whole clear through and then jsut cut it out on both sides. Lookin good Danno!

Not sure... never tried to price them or determine their actual value. I'd have to do some research. You can PM me an offer if you'd like.
