I have only used it with MIG before.

But I wan;t to try the .035 flux core.

The friiggin manual couldn;t be anymore vague and contradictory.

Here's what I know - I obviously need the .035 wire, switch polarity, use .035 tip and turn drive roller around for .035.

The bit that is unclear (coz it contradicts itself) is whether I NEED a different liner and whether I HAVE to use the gasless nozzle?

In places it says I do, in others it says the gasless nozzle is "preferred" or some such thing, and the liner they say shipped with it is .030 - .035, but then elsewhere they say you need the liner .035-.045????????

Anyone feed .035 flux core with liner part # M16291-6 as shipped?

you could get some .023 innersheild instead of the .035

You do not need the nozzel all that does is direct the gas(when useing it) around the weld. Just pull it off and keep it for later. The gasless nozzel you are talking about would be a smaller one so you can see the weld better. Don't waste your money

Good luck, you'll need it with a lincon.:flipoff2:

You should try using a Chicago Electric. God I wish I would have done more research before I bought it :(

I have the Hobart 135 and have used it with flux core. They're pretty much the same welder. No need to change liners or anything like that. Just use the correct drive rollers and polarity.

Well I'm no expert , but that's all I've used so far.
Haven't built an entire 4x4 but have done everything from sheetmetal to Chevy frames with no real issues.
splatter everywhere and the need to wirewheel the weld after.
My neighbor is a welder at work and loves my sp-125+

Bill -

I have the same welder and use flux regularly. Never have changed the liner, and I just use the gas nozzle 'cause it's there.

Thanks for the info guys,

I'm going to leave the liner as is, and cut down an old gas nozzle and use it, so there's something on there to protect the gas diffuser from splatter.

YUP I have, it works pretty darn good with .035" wire, as long as it's the right stuff. I got a spool from a parts store (Carquest) and it worked great through the first half of the roll, then- can you say bird's nest?!
Overall with all the problems I had keeping wire coming out the tip, made me glad it was borrowed and not my welder. I'll keep the stick thank you very much, for some reason they don't jam very often... :D
