How can I legally ship a gun to Texas? A guy is buying a gun from me and said " I will pick up an FFL in the couple days and send it along with a Money Order to you ASAP. You do not have to mail the weapon through an FFL if you do not choose to as you are an individual. All the FFL dealer requires is proof of ID. IE: copy of license which he destroys after information is verified. "

I thought an FFL had to handle it on my end also?

I sold it on auction arms, if I decide not to ship it and just pay the seller fee what will happen? I wanted to sell this locally without shipping but he bid anyway

Nope, you can mail it direct to his FFL. It's actually pretty easy to do, and no, you don't have to ship rifles overnight, that only applies to pistols.

I wouldn't provide anything identifying you with the rifle, either. If his FFL won't accept it, tough shit.

Nothing in the law books requiring handguns to be shipped overnight, either. However, if you feel the need to do so, break apart the gun and put it in two separate boxes.

UPS doesn't like shipping firearms, so I always tell them it's high end electronics or something.
