From what i heard from the Toyota crowd, the stock axles of this HD TLC75 1 ton pickup are stronger than a D60... (can somebody confirm this - OZguys)?

the engine is a 4.0L I6, and as thirsty as they come

however i feel the best swap would be the 13 BT turbodiesel (blown version of the 3B)... tons of torque

yep, unfortunately toyota introduced the ifs in 92 together with the injected R22... so its either a good engine or a good suspension... or good bucks to get both ;o)

bushranger

Who makes the bushranger? (Cool name by the way) I looks like a decent platform to start building from. Is the stock running gear any good?

it is basically a range rover chassis built up to be a custom rig.

You can build em anyway you like. just need the $'s. dont seem to win many comps over here, it is all the sick FJ40's that win mainly. hehe.

The stretch Land Cruiser above with the Military color and canvas top is actually an FJ43. The only place I've ever seen one was in Japan in the late 60's. That would be a great rig to make into a rock crawler. It's kind of a Japanese version of the CJ8. Cool.
regards, as always, jefe
