Hey , i'm planing to build a 1/4 eliptical system for a CJ .
My plan is a 3 link system , with Heim joints.
I'd like to ask :
* What are the most important things ?
* What is special about the leaf springs ,
for that application ? and can i get
used leaf springs and cut them half ?
* Is it good , to make the lower and upper
links parallel to the ground ?
* Is it good , to make the radius arms and
the triangle arms at the same height ?
( both will joined at the axle's upper
side)?

It's a rockbuggy , so i took a long CJ's chassis .

Anybody?

Try doing a search there is a ton of this information out there. One that it is good is titled takeing the rear steer out of my 4 link. It is only a few days old so a cuople pages back.

The CJ is a 83 model , and it's a long chassis such as the CJ-8 has .
I'm planning to locate the axles at the end of the chassis , a change that will allow me to install a very long leaf springs and
long links .
My idea is using a 1.2 meter long , leaf spring at each corner and spring rate of
180-220 lb/inch .
At the end of the springs i'm thinking to put orbit eye .

What do think ?

orbit eye is unneccesary. the leaf takes up all the twist. on my 1/4 e set up i have a rod end mounted shackle and it doesnt move at allunder full twist.

Big Pen - i'm not going to use Heim joint at the shackle of the spring , that's way i'm planning to use orbit eye .
Can you please tell me more about your 1/4 ?
