: ar 15 308
BigGreenMonster 09-17-2008, 05:31 PM so i was hoping to round up a 308 ar15 by nov but looks like rock river is not gonna let any out and dpms has a 6 month back order. anyone know if there are any more out there? i like the 15's better than the 10's and every ar10 i find is 15 hundy or more anyway. might as well buy a new one. here is a question... if i purchase one from dpms now and the dems reinstate the brady bill will i get the gun or my money back? technicly i am buying it now but i do not know how that will work out... damn!

mark_w 09-17-2008, 07:37 PM Call Pete....
The guy I buy AR stuff here in town had 3 or 4 complete DPMS LR308s at the last funshow.
Speaking of which, I need to email Pete about the Parts kit and Upper for the stripped lower I bought a few months ago.

If you meant those as examples of .308 AR-15's... they're not. They're AR-style rifles in .308; they share around $200 worth of parts (trigger group, some springs and detents, pistol grip, buttstock, maybe the gas block, probably nothing else) with a typical AR15.
.308 AR's are more expensive than .223 ones; everything is different. The only way to get a "cheap" .308 AR is to get a 7.62x39, which isn't really ".308". You can get them down pretty close to $1k (contact Pete) but if you get one under four digits, I'll be surprised.

4in100 09-18-2008, 06:01 AM If you wanting one now you're gonna pay $$$$$$$. If you're willing to wait you're gonna pay $$$$$$$-$50.
I dropped some coin on mine, but I was able to get it when Pete could get the stuff quick (and I upgraded some parts). You could go with the CMMG stuff, don't know the lead times on their parts.

pwerrec 09-18-2008, 09:52 AM Look up rguns.net they are in Illinois and they advertise dpms 308 for right about a grand. I have never delt with them.

BigGreenMonster 09-18-2008, 09:27 PM i built one on dpms's sit for right under 1100 but there junk is so far out. i understand that they are not the same as a ar15 but they look exactly the same for the most part. an ar10 looks like shit most of the time and if i am gonna spend that much money on an old pos i might as well get a new gun the way i want it.
pwerrec 09-18-2008, 09:38 PM I believe the site I suggested has some in stock, could be wrong though.
BigGreenMonster 09-18-2008, 09:55 PM i am looking at it now... thanks! how about ebang? anyone used them before? i found quite a few on there that look real good. i will have to look around there more.
ItsaCJ6 09-19-2008, 04:44 AM I went to looking for one at gunbroker because Pete told me its a six months wait to order one. I hate to wait.
aloharover 09-19-2008, 09:01 AM Yeah, DPMS stuff is ~6 months on the barrel.
RRA is taking 12 months to deliver the LR-308. The 6 I got in a couple weeks back have all sold.
I had a bunch of DPMS 308Bs that no one seemed interested in at all, $950, and then all of a sudden in like a weeks time they all went. I have one left that someone here is interested in. But I need to swap out the lower for something CA approved.
Now the lower is the weapon, and if you are someone thinking I better get an EBR before the elections then really all you need is the lower. Get that now and then just order the other stuff and when it comes in it comes in.
I should be getting some of the CMMG billet lowers in a few weeks. But they are not making 308 uppers yet. And the lowers only work with DPMS uppers, so back to square one.
Not sure what is meant by :
an ar10 looks like shit most of the time
Armalite, Fulton, Rock River, DPMS, CMMG 308 ars are all AR-10 varients.
BigGreenMonster 09-19-2008, 01:55 PM meaning they are all beat to hell and back. the local shop has 3 ar10's armilite so they are 1.2k min and the best one looks as it has been run over by a 1 ton truck and then dragged down a rock road by said truck. until last night i did not know they made ar10s anymore. so i reckon that was just nOOb ass of me. anyway.
...so, if you end up with the lower i would snatch that up and get a 20" upper from you when you can get it in. if the ban goes into effect you will still be able to get and sell uppers and accesories?
