kpfitz 09-18-2008, 01:18 PM Does anyone have pictures of were they made the cut and the seem they made to join the two back together when they bobbed their scrambler. I have done sum searching and I mostly get pictures of it done. I am really looking for pics of the process. Thanx Kevin
smokd 09-18-2008, 08:22 PM Don't do it! Its a Scrambler, leave it long and armor it up.
kpfitz 09-18-2008, 09:12 PM Its not perfect and far from complete. Mostly just body and frame. I definataly dont need the over hang but I will take the wheelbase. Any good write ups or links on doing this? Searching is not turning up shit and anything I do find allthe pictures have expired.
jamespadgett 09-19-2008, 05:33 PM dont do it. leave the scrambler alone, put down the sawzall
Tomjpeb 09-20-2008, 10:55 AM Sorry for the broken record, but don't do it. IT's a scrambler. Go find a real cheap 7 body, do the fab work, stretch the rear suspension, do the body work, and get the wheel base your looking for.
Is it just in parts, or is the body really trashed to begin with?

dont ruin the Scrambler.
tubage 05-15-2009, 03:07 PM Did you ever find the information you are looking for? I have looked myself without much luck. I understand the don't cut it theory, in theory. I have a scrambler that I go back and forth with. to cut or not. Everybody says don't do it, sell it and cut up a cj7. So I tried that. Guess what, everybody wants to buy my scrambler for $3000. I think I will cut it. It would seem that nobody thinks we should cut our scramblers but they don't want to buy them to save them either. They are only a piece of steel just like the rest of the cjs. Chris
sand dune coon 05-16-2009, 08:16 AM i will trade you a cj7 body for yours. dont cut that thing.
tubage 05-17-2009, 07:44 AM and how much cash? Chris
MonsterSeven 05-17-2009, 08:39 AM cjoffroad.com had a write up of a guy bobbing a CJ8 to fit an LJ hard top.
jeeplt1 05-17-2009, 03:40 PM and how much cash? Chris
why take cash when you where planning on cutting the thing up. why not make the trade and enjoy the fact that you saved the life of a cj8 tub by giving it to someone who cares enough not to chop it. those 8 tubs are getting harder to find in decent shape. i dont need one right now but back when i was looking for one it drove me nuts.
tubage 05-17-2009, 06:13 PM I guess if you cared that much you would pay for it. I just see it as another piece of steel. I could never see a material object as something god like. So, my point again is, if somebody wants to pay to save it ok. If nobody does then when I get ready I will cut it. Party on, Chris
header 05-26-2009, 07:13 PM no bobbing, but i am in the process of dovetailing mine. left it long and looks pretty good... i think. holler if ya need pics.

Cheepin 05-26-2009, 08:05 PM A few years ago a buddy picked up a scrambler. The bed floors were gone.He got a Cj-5 body from a relative. We used the 5 rear to bob the scrambler.Cut like 8" or so off.Basicly it had inner fenders like the CJ-5 and 7's.Looked pretty good.Sorry don't have any pics.
