i just changed the axles in my front end on my 75 f250. it has the dana 44hd closed knuckle. i need to know if in the knuckle if i fill it with grease to the plug or of i am supposed to fill it with gear oil.

anyone got any info

grease, it's the same stuff as a samurai. there should be an axle seal all the way in right by the differential keeping the oil in the diff. so the knuckle gets filled with grease.

Its been a long time since I had one torn apart, but I thought they used gear oil from the front differential. Ok I just checked the Dana web site and they said to use geaar oil, however it is seperate from the center section. Here is the linkhttp://www2.dana.com/pdf/5310-3.PDF
