My little brother just picked up a kinda half way done yj. Here's the specs.
350-Th350-203-205 doubler wms adapter. D60 front 14 bolt rear disc. 4.56 4 link rear with stock tj coils and some stiff ass front springs. some 44's. It has a hacked up crossmember that needs some serious rebuilding. We will basically be changing mostly everything on it. He picked it up for 3000. Not bad for his first crawler. here's some pics. We'll get working on it tomorrow. We need to wire and plumb it. change the front springs. make a new crossmember. Change the rear link set up a little. make all the steering and mount some seats. make a cage and get it done by the first weekend of november

Hope you guys have fun with it. I am going to miss it. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Like I said, it was basically thrown together to get it in one piece. I wanted to tear it down to the frame and start over. Have fun and post alot of pics.

A lot of guys are running .375 wall... those lowers are .360. Shouldn't be too bad. I personally run 2" o.d., .250 wall, but have a 2.5" o.d., .250 wall piece to sleeve them with when i get the chance.

Just a suggestion on the tool box. I would get rid of it and replace it with a full metal welders/tool box. That plastic will break real fast in the cold if you ever see it. I know its bolted down but, during a rollover or flop, you may also break the plastic and its no better then just being placed back there. I have a full metal one bolted down in my YJ and I beat the snot out of it and the metal box is holding. the lid doubles as a place to mount my Hi-lift as well. If you want a pic, I can post one later tonight. You should be able to find these metal boxes at any industrial store.

Thanks for the suggestion. Its just in place here for now. We don't see much cold in vegas but I don't want to deal with it breaking.

Some more updates. Put the links back on. Set the pinion angle. The lower links are 1.5" sleeved with 1.75" sleeved with 2" .120 wall 4130 chromo.

wow, 7:30 soooo late at night

you thinking a stinger of some sort then? Possibly do a hood height stinger tied into the fenders or something? Always looks cool:D

Are you using both settings on the taurus fan, or just high to keep the V8 cool? Draws a lot of amps, works well though:smokin:

lizard lips
11-02-2008, 07:53 PM
exactly what I thouht. I was going to try and so something without a stinger. I haven't made my mind up yet. I'm trying to see what I want. I'd rather do it without one but we will see what happens. It'll all tie intor the fenders as well.

The taurus fan is just on a toggle switch with the higher speed. I was going to run a three way switch but I probably wouldn't use the lower speed very often. And the relay I have, ST85 from napa, is a 85 continous amp relay. I used one on my last truck and didn't have any problems.

With the SR your front shaft isnt going to be happy at all. Dont think you are even close on the travel, I dont like them but if you are in a hurry might think about making a square shaft for the front or run limit straps on the front. Hell of a build so far.

edit; looked at the pic is that a long travel shaft where you just added the one peice. If it is dont read above post :D:D

And I can't move the shift rail for the 205. The one closest to the output. Any ideas.

This is how I did mine, I think I listed all the cable shifter part numbers in my buildup thread. Either way, it looks like you may need to push/pull the shift rail from behind, due to the clearances.

Have you twin sticked the 205, or do you still need to connect the shift rails together?

It's not twin sticked yet. I just haven't put on the plate to connect the two shift rails. It looks good though. Cable shifters are nice.

Well Got all the things for the exhaust. Need to fix a few leaks in the radiator. I still am having all kinds of problems with the harness. The fuel pump is getting juice but I still have no spark. The distributor isn't getting any juice. I tried cranking the motor and seeing if there was something but nope. i'm going to trace the wires down to the computer and see what I have.

Anyone have any ideas?

some more updates of this turd. Never made the event. The damn harness I couldn't figure it out. Pulled the damn thing off. Going to go with another harness. So for the time being I put an intake and carb on I had laying around. Still couldn't get it going to make it out. Tranny problems. Faulty brake lines. I realized at 1am on Saturday morning I was not going to make it. But it's mostly done. Just a few more things but it runs and drives now.

Finished up the rear driveshaft
