Replacing the leafs, bolts and the shackle bushings on my '73.
The bushings don't seem to fit. Drilled out the rubber bushings
and the inner sleeve. The outer sleeve is too narrow for the new urethane ones to go in. I ordered them from James Duff and Duff is gone for the weekend, so y'all are my only hope..
Do I pound out the sleeve with a BFH ( but then I think the bushing would be too small), or do I use the BFH on the bushings hoping not to tear up that pretty blue bushing piece?????
All I wanted to do this weekend was install the rear leafs:confused:

Lube and pound em, a press would be handy thogh if you have access.

FYI The best bushing lube is 'KY-jelly'. So I've heard, a friend told me, rumour has it :blushing:
:D :D :D

I use anti - seize compound on bushings , if you ever have to replace they come apart much easier !

FYI

Talked with Duff 1st thing this morning and they said the
outer sleeve had to go.
Suggested torch or hacksaw down the inside of the sleeve and
BFH the crap outta it.
I had to cut it twice and still hammer and chisel it out.
It had rusted to the shackle all the way around.
New bushings in and leafs on, finally.
