FYI: PCI is offering their Beginners Lowrance GPS Class on Tuesday October 14, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. The class is limited to 20 and will cover the following:

Setting up your GPS with optimal race settings.

Removing old data from your GPS

Loading data to your GPS

Saving data to a chip from your computer and from your GPS.

Making trails different colors

Adding waypoints, trails and icons

How to prerun your own race course and add to SCORE’s, BFG or PCI’s.

Helpful tips for race day

Helpful tips for prerunning

Troubleshooting and basic repairs/diagnosis.

During the seminar, GPS units will be provided so you get hands on experience with these features. After the above items are covered, we will have an open question and answer session to go over all of your ideas during the seminar.

It will be difficult to pack this much information into a two hour class, so there are items that will not be covered. We will not be covering any Garmin questions, converting files or Map Create software questions. I don’t mind answering these after the class if they are brief, but these questions will not pertain to most users and I don’t want to confuse anyone any more than they already are with information they will never need!

Depending on the response to this class, we may hold future classes about Garmin GPS units, Map Create Software, Ozi Explorer, Map Source software and more software details.

The class will be $20 per attendee and limited to the first 20 people. We will serve pizza and drinks and provide you with materials for the class to take home with you.

Please email Rhiannon or call (562) 427-8177 x226 to reserve your seat

Yes, Please. I dont think many of the east teams have ever used GPS to wheel and definately not race.
Hell I wish I could fly out for this one (not happening) to get the education so we can practice with the GPS before the end of February and have an idea what we are doing.

Is there any online tutorials that anyone would recommend?

I don't know of any online tutorials, but PCI sent me their "cheat sheet" on the Lowrance unit. PM me your email address and I will send it to you. Just remember if you get lost at KOH and we pass you, its not my fault.:flipoff2:

sent and thank you

I am 100% sure we will get turned around or somewhat lost at somepoint in JV. Without trees, and directions like turn left by the Jones Farm, hang a right by the 2nd farmhouse with the 3 legged dog, we are probably screwed.

You interested in sending out another copy of the cheat sheet?
