Hi guys

I have an 05 2500 with the 6.0 gasser, and the previous owner had put dual exhaust on it, with a magna flow muffler, and after the muffler, the bends in the pipes look to be super constricting. Definetly not mandrel bent, thats for sure.

I was wondering, has any one run the exhaust out the side, with NO muffler, like cat only? I used to have a Toyota V6 ran like that, and it sounded OK, and ran pretty good. I was just wondering if it would be safe to do that on this truck, and how loud it would be, or should I just take the truck down to the exhaust shop and have them run it right??

Thanks, John

IDK but I think "they" call it the right way for a reason....

Thanks, JohnMandrel bending isn't cheap. So most people just use the good ole compression bender.

With out the muffler it will be loud!!!

What size pipe is it now?

I would run dual 2.5'' with a x pipe right before the muffler with a dual in single 3.5'' or 4'' tail pipe side exit.

I ran an exhaust dump on my 350 and it was way louder than anything out there. It was before the cat so it lost some noise dampening there, but a 6.0 running straight is probably gonna be extremely loud as well. As for performance it might lose some bottom end power but you might gain some in the upper end.

Most newer trucks with the factory cats with no mufflers "usually" are not that loud. The sad thing is that I'm sure the dual system on it is way more restrictive than what came on it factory (probably just did it for the sound). Most of the 2500HD 6.0L trucks I've seen have dual 3" pipes running all the way into the muffler, then usually a 3.5" or something single tailpipe, and they are all mandrel bent all from the factory. If the factory pipes from the engine to the where the original muffler was are still in place, there are a couple of companies that make a muffler and tailpipe.

You are right... Its dual 3" pipes to the mufflers, then it 2.5 with shitty bends out to the back, on either side.

I want to hack that crap off and run no muffler, just two 3" right out the side. What kind of issues will there be with no X over pipe? I guess I could make one... Is it too little back pressure with no muffler?

so, um... why no muffler? is your pecker that small that you need to draw more attention to yourself?
