: HELP: Rear Brakes Frozen Solid - Did LineLock Parking Brake Fail???

I woke up this morning to find that my rear brakes were frozen solid. I drove the truck 12 hours ago and didnt have any problems with it, and I didnt put the linelock on when I parked it, I just left it in gear. Whats the deal?

I have a rear disk brake conversion and an LC master cylinder, and a wilwood manual brake balancer.

Here are some pictures of my setup:

Can Anyone Identify what kind of Linelock this is? It was on the truck when I bought it and I dont know the manufacturer:

I also noticed that Im leaking brake fluid from one of my rear calipers, Im guessing from the constant pressure being applied:

Should I be able to dial out that Wilwood Manual Adjuster so that I have zero rear brakes, just so I can drive it temporarily? Is there anything I can do to try and free my system up other than that? I sperated the LL solenoid from the rest of the unit by removing the bolt on it, but nothing let go. If its not the LL (I dont understand why this happened if the LL wasnt left on?) what other reason could there be for my rear brakes completely locking up? Thanks

Hey Greg:

I would be checking into that master cylinder first. I'm wondering if there's a residual valve on it for the rear brakes? Maybe it's stuck or malfunctioning? I'm not that familiar with the earlier Cruiser MCs, don't know if they use any residual valves or not. It would be in the brass fitting between the brake line and the cast part of the MC. Oddly, I just rebuilt the MC for my FJ62, i thad residual valves on both lines when I took it off. But the rebuilt kit did not have residual valves, just straight thru fittings. Haven't re-installed it yet.

There is in fact a fitting, between the lines and the cast part of the master cyl. I dont know how to tell if its a residual valve or not. Im assuming I should drain my system, remove the MC and break it down to find out.

Ken, you dont happen to have a spare LC Master Cyl do you?

Not from a LC, but I do have a mini MC for sale:

MC For Sale (http://www.yankeetoys.org/KLF/ForSale/ItemDetail.cfm?FS_ID=68)

The residual valve (if present) will be in the brass fitting, right where the brake line attaches. If you look at the upper photo, there is one in that fitting, although to see the residual valve part you actually have to remove the fitting. It looks like a check valve.

BTW, got your PM, will work on the webpage tomorrow when I can stand to be in front of the computer for more than 15 minutes. Wicked hot and stuffy upstairs here at home!

I think im just going to break down and spring for the FJ80 MC All Pro is offering (FJ80 MC (http://www.allprooffroad.com/pics/8168.jpg) ). Even with mine, I felt like there was too much peddle travel for my liking, and this MC looks like its about 30 yrs old. Ill probably just rebuild it and sell it.

I made my preliminary for sale post:
