Hey guys Im still working on #95 and between moving, building house/apt., work etc I have not had ANY time to fool with this thing. But anyway I moved the Ftoy to the new shop and while putting it in there with the tractor I decided to flex it out with the front end loader. When I did the shackle inverted to the rear. When I set the front hanger originally and got the shackle angle where I thought it was supposed to be at static height I jumped on the back and it inverted. I cut the tacks loose and moved the front hanger up some.....still inverted. I added a leaf back to it and thought I had it good, then tonight it inverted. At static they are around 80 degrees or so (eyeballing it). What gives here do I need to move that hanger up some more and put the shackle at 90* static? I have never had this much problem setting up leaf springs. I will also add that I have never had leafs that flexed like that either!!!!

We are talking front springs? Doesn't really matter as rear is the same. Looking from the drivers side it looks like this "|" like this "/" or like this "\" . If more like #3 then you're good, maybe a little steeper if you don't have drivetrain in yet, otherwise the mounting points will have to be moved closer together. If I remember the seperation using a TG 5" with the appropriate leafs removed is 47" center to center for the front.

No talking rears, sorry. Drivetrain is in it minus propane tanks in back, rear seat, BS like that. Sitting static it is about like \, maybe a hair more towards I.

check post #2 in this thread. It has the measurements for the spacing on the hangers for TG 5" springs.

Measure mine tonight. From center bolt on the hard mount to center bolt on shackle end hard mount is 53". After reading that above post numerous times there is some conflicting info there. One says 52.XX and the other says 55-56". I dont see the 56" AT ALL working. I have also put the 3rd leaf back in the last time I got into this. Didnt seem to help the inversion any.

Are you using a 6" shackle?

Can you post some pics so that I can see what we are working with?
Thanks,

My rears measured 52-1/4 in the rear with 6" shackles. It flexed great but I did have trouble on steep climbs. The rear wanted to bounce, even with an anti wrap bar. Actually I think the antiwrap bar contributes to the bounce. I got a lot of the bounce under control with a suck down winch. If I were to do it over again, I would probably move the shackle hanger back about 2" to ~54".

I've got mine at 52.5" with a 6" shackle and it works great. The leaves will flatten out under compression and droop really well. On climbs I don't seem to have an issue with wheel hop. My traction bar is pretty long and goes right up behind the passenger seat which might affect that?
