October 17, 18, 19, Elephant Butte will be celebrating it's 10th anniversary as a city. There will be car show, boat show, motorcycle show and poker run, golf tourney, fishing derby ect, ect. In addition, Bartoo Sand and Gravel will be donating time, equipment and material to build a temporary rock crawl pit.
this is for fun only, no entry fee, no prizes or trophies, just fun. As many of you know we are trying to get a full blown Motorplex which would include about 1100 acres dedicated to off-road; ATV, moto-cross, off-road racing, rock crawling, Don and I have had the opportunity to tour and see this area, it's awesome. This project is huge, but is running into resistance from the local CAVE (C itizens A gainst V irtually E verything) people in TorC, NOT Elephant Butte. Go to this web-site and check it out "Hotspringsld.com",click on press release. Even though the developers are not sponsoring or promoting this event in any way, it is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate what our sport is all about and to give our local folks (Elephant Butte) an idea what the potential benefits of wheelin' could be for the community so they will support the Motorplex (think Moab, Las Cruces, Farmington). Remember it is very possible that "The Chili Challenge" is on it's way out because of the CAVE people. This project is on deeded land, not BLM. Don Hearn has been in contact with various nationally sanctioned organizations, UROC, WEROC, SCORE AND Southwest 4-wheel Drive Assoc. and all of them are very interested in this development
Come help us ROCK the Butte.
