Last week I heard of a hardcore trail which I was led to believe should rival the now closed Rattler Trail and Minesweeper Trail. It is in the same area, Salida. Does anyone know where it is? Has anyone run it? What was it like?

havent run the whole trail, but freind of mine has. We only ran the first obstackle on it last year when we were up there.

came up on a group of MHJC with a scout stuck on the first obstacle. Now... were not talkin like minor stuck.. were talkin 98% of the drivers side torn off. :D.. MHJC told us that it was "inpassable, inpossible, never been done, never will be done." Thats why there was a bypass around it.

Well.. we continued to promply drive 3 vehicles up it. :D awesome. well they broke down up ahead of us with a group of 25 or so.... so we just turned around and headed to minesweep.

I've heard that the rest of the trail lives up to its name of "left fender".. some big outcroppings that are hungry for sheetmetal.

To get there..... (now these could get you lost but will get you in the general vicinity, i was only there once and its a bit foggy)

its right across the highway from minesweep. Theres a bridge that crosses the river. cross that go up about a mile... your gonna make a left and head up towards a mine/gravelpit. when you get there make a right its a ways down the road.. 5 miles maybe? . you'll drop down into a arroyo and see the trailhead on the left.. heading upstream. about 150 yds in you'll come upon the 1st "un-doable" obstacle. theres a bypass on your right that takes you around it if need be. If you opt not to do the bypass, be ready for severe left side damage.. and major right front wheel hanging. its gets fawkin tiiiiipsy.. but wont fall over.

Have fun, talk to some of the locals, and if anyone trys to tell ya that noones been up it,,,, :flipoff2: them.

who;s MHJC??? Not familular with that??

I always love spanking people... "OMG, thats IMPPOSIBLE NONE CAN RUN THAT.." the just walk up it.

I remeber a trip up to a local trail here.... group of us Scouts came up to a large group of toys.... the obstical is abotu a 5-6' wall, then entrance to the trail. Everyone of them had to winch (well, I think one of them, the least arrogent of the bunch mad it).

Then the last one busted it main leaf and they all just stared at it till we hopped in, straped a log to it, and drug his ass off the trail.

The our group of scouts (we were all SUA at the time) procided to walk right up it (open diffs and all) (actually, I think the least built rig in the group had to be winched).

I love that fealing some times :D

Screep.
I think I had found the trail and arroyo you speak of. There is a little shelf road as you go down a hill after after going up it behind the old Mine building. It has a huge locked gate about a half mile in after you enter the creek bottom. It is a narrow bottom with steep tall (100 ft+) sides. Does this sound right?
