:D

I work in the Aviation industry, our "Director of Corporate Communications" contacted me a week or so ago about being in this magazine for an article they do about peoples hobby's outside of work.

Anyway I just got off the phone with the Editor doing an interview about Rock Crawling , Rock racing and just about anything I could put out there that involved the sport and his questions. He really had some great one's too and he made me feel like he was genuinely interested in what we do.

Im to lazy to type it again ( and need to get back to work...) but here's a copy paste of what I wrote on our forums . :smokin:

" Way cool editor, he was seriously interested in the sport and getting information ! Plugged several things he asked for a website that was informative on the sport and racing I told him about Pirate4x4, we talked a TON about XRRA , how the races are ran, what a typical buggy is built from material and suspension stuff. He asked a ton of questions so it was real cool , he wanted to know what kind of companies sponser these so I dropped the biggies Monster, Redbull, told him Tire companies are a huge support vehicle for the industry, BFG and Maxxis. We discussed a little bit about WE-Roc and XRRA the differences in track and cars. I look forward to seeing the article ( I guess I need to check out one of the older mag's and see how they lay these out.

I talked to him a good bit about KOH as well. Told him about how Matt and I are excited to head to Cali and run for a chance at some of the biggest names in the industry.

Man, we didnt talk all "that" long it didnt seem like, but he sure crammed a ton of questions in there ! I was just excited to be able to put the sport and industry in front of some people outside of it so Im kinda hopped up now !

That is awesome Paul. If there is a link when the article comes out, let us know. I'm sure I could find a copy of the mag somewhere in the air capitol if I need to.

A number of teams out west use aviation plumbing companies to plumb their entire buggies...nice tie-in potential. Anyone reading this use em??? I think even Chris Durham used them for his west coast built buggy...congrats on pulling down something outside the industry!

That's cool. I am a commercial pilot/aircraft mechanic and have my degree in Aeronautical Science and have been working in the industry since graduating from college in 1997. I moved to Tulsa, OK to attend flight school after leaving the Navy as a flightcrewman on P-3 Orions in 1993. I got involved with rockcrawling since there were plenty of places to go in the area and eventually ended up working for Sports-in-the-Rough/Superlift as a course designer/Marshal for the ProRock Series. I remain involved in Aviation as well as Rockcrawling as I move forward to opening a new business here in Virginia. What magazine will this be printed in? I look forward to seeing it!

P.S.: Paul, if memory serves me correctly weren't you there at the Paola, KS field when I crashed on takeoff in that V-tailed Bonanza in 2001?

Ken, Ill be damn, I didnt know you worked for Nordam. There is a regular on our club forums that works there as well from Oklahoma (Beyer) Hell, I have a Thrust Reverser that just got repaired by you guys and one we leased in the mean time for one of our BeechJets.

Sean, Im the one that was there when we "rocked out with our cocks out" in Disney... but yea I worked at the Johnson County Exec Airport when you decided to wad up someone else's plane in Paola. :flipoff2:

Cool stuff. The article finally came out. John G at www.firelogs.com ( c'mon its that time of year yo !! ) was good enough to host a link to the article, yea it isnt 100% correct but hey, the guy that wrote it hadnt even heard of rock crawling before !!!

I was honestly just excited to put the sport in front of some people that wouldnt typically get exposure to it !

I was kinda embarrased at the KOH comment, we arent "IN" the big race but are running the LCQ and damn excited about it. We will be in Matt Overson's ( its Overton, gotta mess with him though re: the pbb calendar ) S&N-ish, Essentially OffRoad re- worked TJ buggy.

Ken, I used to be a Disney regular when I lived in Ks... I spent a bit of time talking to you when you had the old "CJ" and Branden was to young to drive a Huffy !
