: ARB's & CO2

Anyone out there running their ARB lockers off of CO2 by any chance? I'd like to get to the point of running the lockers off of the small cartridges (bb gun size canister about the size of a bic lighter {or HighCaliberConsecrator's ... well}. I do not want to hook the lockers to the powertank. I'd still like to flip a switch and have the instant lock/unlock.

Any thoughts on this or know of anyone with something similar?
Thanks and :flipoff2: :D

There was lots of discussion about this several months ago, so doing a search may help.

I run my ARB off of my Powertank & love it. I run the flexible coil-hose from the tank to a quick-disconnect fitting mated to an on-off switch from Gulf Coast Rovers.

The GCR switch is pretty cool - it has a fitting to attach the ARB blue-line to and an exhaust port to exhaust the co2 in the line when it's off. Just attach a quick-disconnect to the input end & mount the switch & you're done.

You can also get similar air-switches from big-rig supply places or maybe luck out at your local plumbing supply store.

The airgun idea will not work. It does not supply enough air. Its my understanding that the ARB bleeds air while in use and needs an larger air source. Run a York compressor and call it good, Then you can air up you and your friends tires when your through!

I beg to differ, we have 2 LSLC members powering their ARB's from the CO2 cannisters, that are about 4"x12".
Jeff Jones who did the R&D and Chad Smithson, JJ is en route to Colo. so he won't be any help, and I don't have Chad's e mail address on this computer, PM me and I will get contact info for you.

Just curious, does it matter if the Co2 tank is mounted horizontal instead of vertical?

Texican- If you read the original question, the guy wants to use a CO2 cartrage the size of a bic lighter. Your friends are usings tanks 4"X12" which has allot more volume to opperate the ARBs. I'll stick to my idea that a tank the size of a bic lighter WILL NOT WORK!

A BIC lighter?! :flipoff2: I think Texican's description of 4"x12" is a little more accurate. Anyway, That's all I have to add to this discussion.

Oh, By the way... PICK UP YOUR FUCKIN' BUMPER!!!!

It must be vertical or you will get liquid comming out. You want the vapor not the liquid.

He is talking about the CO2 cartidges that are commonly used in air pistols (pellet guns). Cyclist also use then for emergency tire refills during races (after they replace the offending tube), if they do not have a chase car for a new tire.
