I am looking at replacing my POS crapsman floor jack (which has been broken more often than not)

I found this: OTC 1537 (http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00970799000P?vName=Tools&cName=MechanicsTools&sName=Lift%20Equipment&psid=FROOGLE01&sid=IDx20070921x00003a)

I KNOW its from Sears, but its a good price.

Only problem is; I can't find any reviews.

It does have a 2 year warranty, so MAYBE it will last longer than the first one.

Thanks,

Chris

I can't comment on that one but I have a NAPA pro one that has served me very well, the only downsides are that its very heavy (~130 lbs.) so its not the most portable.

What are you picking up with it? About 5-6 of the guys I race with have em. They are picking up cars in the 3000# range usually doing 1 side at a time. And none of the jacks have lasted a season. The cars are usually picked up about 4-5 times a weekend for about 8 weekends a year.

They bend and the wheels won't turn and the main frame gets screwed up and the jack will not go all the way down without weight on it.

I'd keep looking.

OK.

I WON'T be buying one of these.

Kinda sucks b/c it LOOKS nice. :shaking:

Can anyone recommend a GOOD aluminum jack?

3K# or better, 18"+ lift height.

Thanks,

Chris

Ive had the 3 ton professional Craftsman jack for about 5 years or so with no problems with it. I know its not aluminum but its solid and hasnt let me down yet.

I bought it in June or July two years ago, and within three months I needed to "customize" it: the universal joint snapped (Since then I see that is a problem; according to the reviews on Sears.com)

So I ordered a steel u-joint from McMaster, drilled it to size, and it was ok for another month or two.

Since about four months after purchase it has been steadily losing fluid.

My Sears is a joke, so I haven't even bothered to take it back.

My next step is to find a place that rebuilds jacks, and see if they can upgrade the broken parts.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the whole situation.

I bought the jack b/c its especially convenient that it is light weight and easily portable.

Thanks for all the insight guys.

I got two of these on sale for $130 each:

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=40105

They have been abused for about 1 year now with no problems. One did come with only half the oil in it and needed to be topped off. I use these outside my garage and on the road when a lighter jack if preferred. They often get muddy and left out in the rain ect...

if you bitch enough at sears they should work with you. just do it when theres alot of people there. i have gotten them to exchange things like craftsman gloves and a rubber mallet that i beat the crap out of. just dont ask for the manager make them want to get him/her.
