Jumbo Trucks
Law Dawgs vs. Ghost Mountain Riders
Sept. 26, 2001 9 p.m. and midnight ET/PT
Sept. 30, 2001 7 p.m. ET/PT

The new season of Junkyard Wars gets off to a roaring start when two teams go head-to-head to see who can build and race the best monster truck. The Law Dawgs, K-9 cops from Modesto, Calif., are up against the Ghost Mountain Riders, grizzly bikers from the West Coast. Both teams think big and it's a race against the clock as they struggle to get their machines finished on time. The teams will then race their monster trucks through an obstacle course with jumps, ditches, lots of mud and a row of parked vehicles. This challenge is both a test of machine speed and driver skill, as team members must accurately navigate the course in the fastest time possible. It's a cliffhanger all the way

Awewsome show. Kinda cheeseball though with two deuces already there. I understand giving them the tires and seats, but c'mon, an entire military truck? Wish I could find one of those in my back yard!

Still really cool!!!

Hope the others keep going as well as this one!

I wouldn't say it was the best. All they did was assemble a bunch a pieces to make a truck? All the dueces were missing was tires and an engine.

I liked the episode were they had to make a walking machine. Now that took some work.

I enjoyed the show. I even recorded it. I do think they should have had more time and not been given seats and had tires on loan to JunkYard Wars. But still I enjoyed the show. If I could get my truck put together in 10 hours, I would have been done long ago.
Thanks for posting this and letting those of us who don't watch much TV enjoy this episode.

I liked it but I would have liked to have seen more detail of the trucks being put together.

Wasn't too sure those bikers were going to make it though

Races were good.

As others have said, wish I could find that kind of stuff in the junkyards around here.

The GMR's wasted time on the doal rear tires - more weight, less take off power, not a good thing on the lame course they had laid out.

I thought for sure the Law Dawgs would have trouble getting those huge tires to steer... guess not

I agree with White Knight, they didn't show near enough how it was done stuff. Just some bare basics. The show was enjoyable to watch but the compromises and special rigging were what makes a show like that interesting. The US producers don't seem to have a good grasp of that.

Best ones so far were the hovercraft episode, and the airplane episode....

Both showed REAL engineeering, not just putting tires on a pre-stashed rolling frame

We "Tin Benders " have are own "Junkyard Wars" twice a year at the Hammers....

We split up into 5 teams of 3 people...
Everyone puts in $100.00 bucks and winner takes all...

Camo and Frosty won last time when they made a 2 person hang glider out of 750 beer cans, 3 tubes of silicone, 8 rolls of black tape and sleeping bag.

No, those were definatly not built in 10 hours. You could see on what was supposed to be the end, that the engine in the gay mounting riders was not even bolted in yet. The roll cages were not even close to being finished by either team.

Why would the one team completly delete their suspension, did you see those guys bouncing around in their harnesses? Quearter elliptical rear on the one team, pretty cool.

The driver that was DQ'd should hav been given another chance. This is supposed to be a test of the best machine not driver, RIGHT?

Things I would have liked to see, but didn;t get any camera attention:

How did both teams connect their transmissions to the Rockwell Transfer case?

What was involved in getting the one teams untested engine running?

How the bikers welded the army trucks wheel centers onto the the tractor wheels, and managed to get the alignment so good( I was looking for that to be something that fell apart during the race) The wheels seemed to roll very straight in the comp.

Wish I had a 2.5 ton army truck, a BB Caddy, and some monster truck tires. Man that would be a blast.

Did you all see the preview for next weeks episode??? It's a new one - but they are building a machine that has already been done - and ditch crosser. I was so let down when I saw that. They've already done it

Archie_G

Am I the only one who thinks that if they had use the military tires that the duce came with that the trucks would have been faster? For that course, they didn't need them big ass tires.

Tin Bender
09-27-2001, 08:23 AM
It's ture, the weak ass course could have been made with 31's.....

Next question.... What would you have them make???? What would you like to see???

mudlite
09-27-2001, 09:55 AM
They only won because the other guys were disqualified. Give them a second run and see who would have won.

It was basically lame. How hard is it to put a motor in and slap some wheels on? 10 HOURS MY ASS.

I think the best two episodes were, the walking machine and the pint of gas.

What would I like to see? something that you can't slap together. I know.......a muskeg buggy. it has to stay on top of the muskeg, tread lightly, get across 100'of muskeg, with all passengers. You need something with a big foot print ( but don't leave no terra tires lying around!!!!!!!!

What would you make?

personally, i was fairly disappointed in the show. the new host is just lame and they didn't hardly show any footage of them actually building the trucks. they went from messing with tires to driving the trucks in about 2 minutes. now fiddling with driveshafts and where did the tubing for the rollcage "appear" from and a tubing bender to boot ! ... as the episode went on they kept passing tractor tires in the yard ... and the planted frames ... come awn ...

using the hearse motor was about the only real "junkyard" thing going ...

Skeg or muskeg is swampy, marshy land.
You have to drive with finesse.
If you tromp on it when in skeg you will just dig yourself in.
It's nasty stuff

Here's a pic of some.
It's all skeg. You don't think it's deep until you're in it ( sort of grassy quicksand but it's muddy instead)
