I have a length of 10-4 SO cable with the screw together plug end. Since it is stored outside, water collecting inside of the plug end creates a hazardous condition. Could I fill it with something like epoxy to keep out the water?

My plug looks like this (not my pic):

plastic bag or cut two holes just small enough in a tupper ware tub. you could full the inside of the plug with dielectric grease.

I like to fill things like that with dialectric silicone grease. Has worked for me. did that on my unused plug for water detection on my dodge diesel. Ed

Rubber glove and a rubber band.

rubber bag/ glove is going to be a pain as I use this cord weekly and it rains a lot here.

now is there a more easily findable product that would do the trick? Should i just find a bunch of polyurethane based epoxy?

Yes, my detached garage is wired kind of like an RV. The male end plug and cord is coiled outside in a pile and when I want to use it, it's extended across my lawn to a plug.

why not go to walmart & get a big plastic box, action packer I think people call them
great for shipping trans & t-cases in, sealed up with a lid no water damage or sun breakdown, dirt dust etc
$20-30

Normally that would be a great suggestion, but I coil up the cord in a potted plant tub as it camoflauges the cable so my relative (who I rent from) does not see it. I should just make some sort of drip proof lid for it that's hard to see unless you look down inside.

I think that is the way to go:smokin:
