Just put on some 38" sx's balanced with equal from 4wpw and the things are terrible above 50mph, they shake the whole truck. Is this just normal and something to live with? or is there a better way to balance them?

The 6 golf balls in each of mine seem to work pretty good:D

My wheeling buddy had a weight fly off and smash the passenger side mirror clean off his chevy today. 42's + big weights + wheelspin = a LOT of mass flying at you. Try the golfballs. For the guy running 100 MPH in swampers, call me in advance and let me know when I should stay off the road...

BillaVista and I have had a lot of luck with BBs.

36" tires.. 24OZ of weight on the worst tire. and I can go 65mph. Anything beyond that vibrations start and get REAL BAD.

For those running the golf balls, are those in addition to having had the tires balanced with weights, or are the golf balls used in place of the weights?

How many oz. of BBs are you using? A whole package? A few oz's?

I still have some wheel wheights on my rims but they were FAR from ballanced before the golf balls. At 50 my whole jeep started shaking and at 55 I thought something was gonna shake loose:eek:

no wheel weights, just golf balls. 5-6 for a 38" tire. Takes all of 10 minutes to pull the valve core, dump air, unseat the outer with the hi-lift, drop in the balls, reseat and air up. 2 years with them in there, no problems or complaints...and no more lost wheel weights.

I put 12 oz of bbs in my 35 X 15.5 SXs. Never balanced better. That doesn't mean they were smooth of course, they can never be smooth because they're not round. But it was better then it had ever been with weights.

Golf balls dont' really move around when your going along...they go to the offbalanced side/spot and stay there from centrifugal force. You can here them roll around a little bit when you come to a stop:D

If you can hear them on the road, then you apparrently have no tire hum and are not running SX's...if you can hear them when you stop, or as you stop, then your exhaust is VERY quiet.

I can hear them when rolling the truck around the drive....barely...

I'm a poor french-speaking ignorant...

What are BBs please ?
No matter how hard I search, BBs are still nothing but BBs... What does that stand for please ?

Thanks,

One more Q :

Any suggestion for balancing tubed ? Antifreeze (does it attack the rubber maybe ?) or just water or ???

Thx,

A buddy of mine mentioned something about tractor trailer weights of some sort.

I havent seen them but would like to know if they exist.
They are just like the regular weights but they are thicker in size and weight.

Therefore you dont have to have them doing a half moon around the tire. I'de be interested in if they are out there.

LOL You guys said balance and swamper in the same sentence

BBs are little round balls of steel which are shot out of an air gun. Essentially when I say BBs I'm talking about something like lead shot or the like.

Water/anti freeze initially makes me wonder about the free surface effect, but then again, solid material is going to have something like the same effect, and I can't imagine the free surface effect of that much water is going to amount to much in 400+ lbs of rotating tire.

Balanced all 5 of my 38.5x14.50SX's on beedlocks without any issues. It's smooth at 85mph. Heck...one wheel only took one ONCE of weight. The installer was impressed at how well they balanced.

Well last night I got balanced. First they tried weights. One tire wanted 26 oz of weight!

I opted for the equal. One 10oz package in each tire. HUGE difference. I am pleased so far. Course time will tell.
