Hello, I am an owner of a 1986 4runner with a recently blown transmission and i have a few questions:

I've researched a few automatic transmission types (A340H, F, E) and i know that they come from different year 4runners/4x4s, but will they bolt/connect on with little or no modification?

Perhaps there is a kit available if no?

Are the bellhousings the same or would i need to customize that as well?

if its a 4 cyl. the bell housing is the same on all 20r's and 22r's and I am not sure about the 6 cyl's but any toyota 4 cyl trans will bolt right up to your engine even a front wheel drive one:D but you might want to grab the flex plate that goes with the new trans... not sure on that?:confused:
There is a place called Toyota Truck Dismantlers on Berryessa Rd. in San Jose. they may have something for you and or be able to help athough they were not much help for me:mad:
