Anyone have any info on Wellsville, Ohio? I'm planning a wheeling trip there Aug. 17th. I would like to know if it is open and what is the cost to wheel? Any info at all would be appreciated!

I was up there with some buddies two or three weeks ago. You can get in for free over the railroad tracks at the main entrance, or you can get in on top by following signs to the ATV Forbidden Area (or something like that) - they charge $7 per vehicle. It's up the the road with the rest stop.

They have been giving out tickets to anyone who goes within 50 feet of the railraod tracks so if you go that way just watch out.

Is this the latest and greatest Midwest Off-road park?

If so do you guys have any details?

not nearly the latest and greatest. Think old slag dump. Lots of fun stuff, but a lot that can also be done in a (near) stocker.

Open a map, find Youngstown Ohio, go straight south to the WV border... Wellsville is right about there.

About 2 hours from Cleveland, maybe an hour from Pittsburg.

I've been down there a good 10 times or so the past 2 months. Everything is fine at the main gate (at least I haven't seen any of the RR police). Over the past few weekends someone has built a small RR crossing from old ties. It could have possibly been put in place by the RR company, since everything has been staked.

As far as the upper entrance (the pay to play area), I refuse to pay for an entrance when that particular landowner owns very few acres of the overall 4000 available. I just stay off his property. I'm also not too keen on the dozing he's been doing near the creek bed. All he's doing is making dirt roads and ruining perfectly good trails.

Anyway..to anyone that has wheeled there before knows that Wellsville is what you make of it. There is anything from easy to difficult terrain. Anyone that has seen the depths of it wouldn't call it a slag dump. There are some great trails there off the beaten paths. Go explore a little bit and you'll find Wellsville has so much more to offer.
