Not like it matters but whats the law in CA on how far your tires can stick past the body? Mine is about 8in. Is it a fix-it ticket or is there a fine?

The tread can not extend further than 3\4" past the body or flares, which ever is furthest, It is also a fix it ticket with a $50 price tag for our county.

at least you can get that much. Here in Pa. we can only have 1/2 of the outermost tread pertudeing past the fender flare. Which can not exceed 3 inches.

And if you measure the Stock TJ flares and stock tires. It fails. so that tells me that we are aloud 3 inch flares past the stock flares. does anyone agree? Stock flares are 3 3/4 inches.
My flares are 6" so I should be ok? Right?

I love SD. My front tires stick out almost 10" past my fenders. No problems. This place rules. No laws on anything like that.

DOH!! they never hasseled me in my EB with the 35's sticking out about 1.5", wonder what they'll do when I narrow it in december, since it'll have about 4.5" out in the back, and 8" or so in the front sticking out...I'm driving it from school to Napa, CA to do the work, then driving it in it's new narrower form back to prescott, AZ for spring semester...but homestly officer, it's ALL STOCK!

Here in tx I used to drive an isuzu pickup with 31x12.50's, and no felders at all. It was the only way to get them to fit. So technichally I had 12.5" sticking out of my "body". It was legal. Even got it registered that way. Texas rocks sometimes.

here in Pa. that would be a $94.00 fine for the tire width,
$94.00 fine for no fenderflares.
$94.00 fine for no turnsignals
$94.00 fine for no inspection.
$94.00 fine for no emmission inspection.
$94.00 for pissin of a cop.

the only good thing is you would only have to pay court costs one time. So it would add up like this, if you were cited for all at once.

$25.00 fine
10.00 ems
30.00 cat
1.50 JCP
27.50 court costs.
66.50 fine
66.50 fine
66.50 fine
66.50 fine
66.50 fine
------------

$426.50 grand total.

Thats not so bad I guess.

Here in VA you gotta have a "marker light" within 3 in. of the outside of the tire. If you don't have this it's gonna cost you $60.00 + $35.00 court costs=$95.00

My rear tires stick out about 8" and the fronts about 10" on my GPW, also no blinkers, or mirrors. My neighbor is a cop and hasn't said anything yet!

Yeah PA SUCKS big time!! I got pulled over for having less than 1" of tread sticking out past my front fender flairs and got a "fix-it- ticket"!
Plus they told me not to lift it any more, and that was when i only had 5" of lift and 33"s, when i get my truck back out on the road again i am going to have 8" of lift and 36"s, plus a wider front axle, we'll have too see how the cops like that!!!

The larger flaires are legal in PA on a jeep. You can't have over 3" past the body line. On a jeep the flair is a body line so you change it your good. Also most cops around me will get you for the no mud flaps thing most of the time.

WTF? You dont need mudflaps on a Jeep in Pa. Because its registered as a coupe or a SW. But not a truck and the statute states you only need mudflaps on TRUCKS.

Sounds like FALSE ARREST to me. I can't stand cops that make up the rules as they go along. That really burns me up.
