Hi,

A friend of mine with a '79 BJ40 is (was) working on a (front) disc brake conversion. (we poor europeans had drums until mid-80 or so :( )
He had borrowed front rotors from a 42, and told me the hub on his LC was too big for the later disc to make it through, and told me he would have to rebore the disc center hole by 5mm... WTF ? (dunno what kind of hubs he has tho.)
Anybody has a straight explaination for this ?
Does it have something to do with the knuckle style, which could have changed once more between '79 and '80 ? The late-80 have the later style birfs. according to Christof...

I want to buy the right discs on the 1st attempt

Thanks,

Denis:

... forgot to mention ...
My own application would be 1st on my '80 (selectro) and then my '75 (driver plate) (unless I swap a 60 axle on this one...)
hub O/D : 105mm on both...

Hey Chris, did you end up swapping the knuckles ? What is your hub dia ?
How did the PS conversion turn out ?

LJ70... mmmh let me see... aren't those light-duty landcruisers... with non-vented discs... :flipoff2:

I think I'll buy my discs new, should be ~50 EUROS... Whaddaya think ?

I'm just back form a 14 day vacation in Ireland so didn't do much work on the cruiser. Haven't even picked up the parts for the power steering yet.

I swapped the entire knuckle from the Lj70. Was a bolt on swap, everything fit's like a charm :D

I've got the aisin type now, used to have the old warn type.

Steering arms = tie rod arms?? I used the tie rod arms from my '40 series drum brake setup they fit perfectly.

I wanna get rid of all of my parts, got 4 brand new non Factory brake cilinders, new drum brake pads(less than 2000km), 20 yo drums turned last year if you need anything let me know, maybe we can make a deal. Also got the entire knuckle, backin' plate,...

Also got the tie rod arms from the Lj70 or 71 don't exactly know what type.
