hi my name is don and i just got a new to me chevy truck.

its a 77 chevy silverado 4x4 shortbed step-side 1/2 ton truck. 10bolt rear. d44 front. 1970 chevelle ls5 454. "butterfly" clutch?? sm465+np205.

this poor truck has been sitting for years. my friends uncle gave it to me. he blew the rear end out and just parked it. i have a 91 dodge cummins 4x4 truck and car trailer that i plan to tow this with so i dont have to bother with DMV.

i have a dana 60 rear out of a 83 dodge 1ton (small drums) the gears in that are 4.11 and the truck is 3.73 so im planning on putting 4.11s in the front, welding it and putting 3/4 ton spindles and junk to get the lugs to match for the time being until i can get a dana 60 front. i also have a huge truck propane tank and i will run when i get the $1000 for the conversion kit. i already have 5-point belts and nice power/heated bmw leather seats to put in.

so i have a question about springs. i have a set of 63 chevys i want to run but i dont know what kind of lift its going to give it. i was given a set up 4inch lift springs for the front. i have put chevys on small 4x4 trucks but never a full size. can anyone tell me what kind of lift to expect from them?

this truck is going to be a all-around wheeler. i dont want to lift it too much, im planning on running 35-37inch tires.

thank you and i hope to be on here more

Where is the pics?
I have pretty much the same truck. But Mine is a fleetside and it has a 12bolt rear.
I put in 4" rough country springs up front and 35's rub so I did some minor cutting.

Let me know if you go up the mountain or go to prairie city.

You have to move the hangers and should really do a shackle flip anyways, so they give you whatever lift you want. If it sits high, just move the bracket up on the frame.

yeah i know about the hanger relocation. im just trying to figure out what kind of lift it will give me over the stock springs. i did a shackle flip on my friends truck but he kept his shorter lifted springs. i have owned chevy 4x4s but this is the first one i owned that i actualy will put time and money into.

if i buy a high-steer kit for a dana 44 do you think i could use most of it when i change to a 60. just buy new ends? i already have a 2wd box for it. also any of you running a big block with electric fans and the older style radiator? im trying to figure out what CFM fans i need to keep that engine cooled

:flipoff2:THANK YOU

A shackle flip on stock springs is 4"
With the stock front hangers you get around 4-5" more wheelbase and with the shackle flip in a stockish location I've got 2 extra leaves(making a 5 leave pack) and it's around 6"
The high steer on the 44 will need a longer tie rod and drag link than the 60, so you would have to cut it down, only completely reusable part will be the 2wd box.

My small block with a 4 core rad won't even open the thermostat with 1 of my 2 tauras fans running.

Now I'm done spoon feeding, so search noob:flipoff2:
