: The Hammers this weekend, Kicked ass
StinkBug 08-05-2002, 10:41 AM I had a Fawkin awesome time this weekend, and i'm still feelin the hurt today, so it musta been good :D I just wanted to thank everybody that helped me drag my shit thru the trails this weekend. This was only the second real test for my newly built rig and I'm definitely getting more and more used to it every time i drive it. After this weekend i think i'm gonna have to do something about my wide rear fenders to keep em outta the rocks. I'm not a baby about body damage (as shown by my truck) but I do wanna keep the amigo shape intact, i mean whats the point of starting with a unique vehicle if it doesn't look like that vehicle anymore :) I'm thinkin of cutting off the back end, tubing it out, then attaching the fenders to the cage with zeus fittings about 10-12" farther in, should solve most of my rock clearance issues.
It was really great Meeting all you guys, I hope to see you guys again, and hopefully wont hold you guys back so much next time. I definitely enjoyed the pyro show Tinbender put on, and i think Josh (my co-pilot) may have been swayed from his muscle car roots. I'm gonna talk to him about doin a 4 link and 35s on his 64 mustang tomorrow ;). Thanks again guys.

P.S. does anyone have pics of Chris tryin to bicycle his samurai across the lake?
sceep 08-05-2002, 10:46 AM GOT PICS??
StinkBug 08-05-2002, 10:49 AM all the action for me was at night, and my camera takes shitty pics in the dark, so nope, sorry. anyone else get good pics. Watchin JR in the FC Bronco climb over all the crazy lines was pretty sweet, hope someone got some shots of that.

Belly Dragger 08-05-2002, 11:00 AM As I stated on another forum, without pics I call BS!
Spank 08-05-2002, 11:01 AM I'll get the shots of the Zuk Bicycle tomorrow, gotta get the film developed today. That was an awesome run. Did you and the rest of our group turn around and head back down Claw with Jaime? I finished the trail but had to be winched half way up the final obstacle, like most everyone else did. Got a few pics of you trying to flip the stinkbug in the middle of the desert too.
I'm glad i got away with only a creased steering stabilizer and a dented fender from a big Toy. No big deal, just matches the other side now.
I'll send pics to your e-mail so you can post them or something.

Did I do that (red Cruiser) If so I'll fully take care of the damages, just PM me;)
StinkBug 08-05-2002, 11:45 AM Sweet, go ahead and email me those pics i'd love to see em. i dont have a red star to post em directly, but i can put em on my webshots page and link em. I ended up turning around and leading the way back down Claw with jamie and john behind me. we figured if it was takin that much time to get the big rigs up it was pointless to try takin his truck up there with only 2wd. As for tryin to roll my rig, it didn't feel tippy at all i swear ;) woulda been funny to pull a Camo tho.

RE:Todd 08-05-2002, 11:45 AM Or did I do it? Let me know.

Thanks for you concern,
Honestly, I dont know, because atleast three of the toys that drove around me on that section bumped my left front tire and probably the flare on that side. I didn't see which truck actually hit the fender, maybe your passenger saw it.
The flares are basically toast anyway, and it's nothing a hammer won't fix. Don't worry about it
i know i barely touched the tire :D cuz i had to work my diff on a rock to get around you :D
Spank 08-05-2002, 01:18 PM I figured that section was just too easy, so I parked my heep in the middle of it so I could see some action. :flipoff2:
It worked.

If wanted to see action, you should have followed Camo down Wrecking Ball with us  Nothing like a good nose wheelie at 4:00 am. to wake you up!
Sorry if I was the one who hit your fender, I thought I just caught the tire.
Chris Geiger 08-05-2002, 04:43 PM Great weekend!
I got five really lousy pics, but it may be the only photographic evidence we have of this trip. I need to get some better lights for night pics.

ya gotta love a good nose wheelie at 4 am. :D
Mar and I had an awsome time. It was great to finally meet some of the people we have only read about.
Highlights: Seeing all the cool rigs and the way the drivers commandeer the trail.
Flipping Camo's rig on it's side to putty-up an oil leak in the pan.
Getting a taste of the big Johnson, couple of great spots on it. Oh baby!
No fist fights. :D
Camo, why did you leave early? We came back Sat. night hoping to 'wheel with you.
I had a pretty good time also. I was dissapointed I had electrical problems with my CJ, which proved to be simply a loose ground wire on the battery. It rendered my winch unusable, which was really a drag as I got spanked trying to follow Bro John (JR) on some of his lines. [hint: don't try to follow bro john] Now that I have all cro moly axles/CTM's, I'll be going to bigger tires than these measly 36's.
All the toy people ran good runs and were well prepared. Just one RG&P failure. There were only a couple square feet of sheet metal on any of their rigs.
Camo was a trip. His rig started having woes right away on Big Johnson, but nothing short of catastophe seemed to slow him down much. As it worked out, weather-wise, we probably could have run during the day with less than 100 degree temps, max. I was pretty lonely as the only Jeep on the run, but had my little brother John and Marilyn to protect me from the anti-jeep wolves.
regards, as always, jefe
Spank 08-06-2002, 10:06 AM Well... on Saturday morning I guess EMIEVIL and Stinkbug got a little bored, so they decided they were going to drive the Suzuki on two wheels. And no, he didn't roll it that morning, he did it later that night on the trail.
Some of the pictures are grainy becuase I had to enlarge them.

You're in the first shot too, sitting in the driver seat of the Zuk with Josh.
EMIEVEL 08-06-2002, 10:26 AM Thanks for the pics, Spank. Dallas was riding with me in some of those pics, but it is kinda hard to see him. Maybe it wasn't really him though, I jus met him!
