I know iam gonna get flamed for this, but oh well..

I have a set of dana 60s from a 1979 ford f250 and i all ready have installed the rear axle, Now my question is what did everyone that has these axles do when installing the front axle. Did you outboard the spring hangers, or did you just modify the existing perches on the axle. I know that the most of you stretched the front but iam not looking to stretch the front right now..

So if anyone has any input that pertains to installing the hp dana front into a 1988 jeep yj, please post them here, Pictures are also needed if you have them..

Assuming you are mounting that in your YJ....the spring pads should line up perfectly..That is what makes the 79 so desirable.

Drill the center pin holes out a little. I think your going to be like 1/2" on each side or something like that.

I moved the passenger side and drilled the driver side. Look for my build.

I outboarded mine on my CJ, but on a YJ the 79 will bolt up

Yep, Yep, center pin width should be about 32" on the axle and about 31.75 on the springs. Pretty much a straight bolt up.

And what type of axles are you running that you had to oboard your springs that much?

how much did you have to outboard you spring hangers. I guess the 77 is wider than the 79?

Here are some pictures of the jeep sitting on all fours... I know the ubolts are long and need to get trimmed, but once iam sure everything is where i want it to be and all set up, then i will trimmed them down.. :garfield: Now i just need to figure out the steering and what arms i am going to use.. So many options out there, I am starting to get a headache.. If anyone knows of any good ones out there let me know.. For right now iam going to use the stock steering and possible use hydro assist later, But definatly do not want to go full hydro yet, for this jeep is still gonna be driven on the street..

here is how i mount the u bolts thru the carrier housing instead of grinding away the web.. I think this should be just as strong as it was before the mounting the ubolts.

what steering arms are you using on your jeep. That is one thing that iam trying to get ideas on who and what to use.. So many choices out there,

Also has anyone used these arms that i found on ebay, Dana 60 High Steer Arms with Crossover Steering 7/8" (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&viewitem=&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR4 0%26_trksid%3Dm38.l1313%26_nkw%3D130263690282%2B%2 B%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&item=130263690282)

I run my tierod behind the axle using a double arm on one side. If I had to do it again, I would get a double arm setup that is springless and blank.

Something like this.

WFO's are springless
