anyone make them or bought any? i doubt the power wagon ones would work on a 1/2 ton :(

I'm sure any local fab guy could slap some toghter for you. Just make sure they are made out of at lease 1 1/2 .120 wall tubing and have a min of 4 attachment points welded to the frame.

If the frame on a 1500 is anything like a 2500 it should be pretty easy.

I'm getting ready to build a set for my 2500 and the frame looks pretty clean without to many obstacles.

I'm going to use 2" .120 wall.

The 1500 frames sit higher in the body than the 2500's so the supports will have to be angled down to clear. I have had mine for a few years now. it's easier fab on the 3/4 ton but still doable on the half ton.

ce2flaco,

Can you show pics of how your's are attached at the frame? Also, does anyone have any idea on the thickness of the 2500 frames? I'm going with,120 wall 1.75 dom, but was thinking of actually welding plate to the frame prior to welding the tube to the frame.

Thanks,
Jon D.

unless the frame is .190 or more I'd put some plate on there to spread the load. Some decent sized diamond shaped 3/16 or 1/4 (whatever is laying around....) would spread the load to keep from bending the frame where they attach.

I didnt want to weld mine on so that i could remove them if needed. So we came up with the J-bracket idea. We bent flat stock into a sort of "J" that wraps under the frame to help distribute the load with a coulpe of half inch bolts on each mounting spot.

It started out as one...now it's sort of a mutant thing. I dig it though.

Those are Sweet, they look beefy as fuck!! Could you get a better picture(s) of what material you used between your frame and rocksliders? I like that much more than just a peice of tubing or square stalk, They could be brased up some but yours look like a solid chunk of steel welded to your L-brackets.

It's actually a piece of 2" tubing on bottom with 1" on top and a piece of 3/8" flat stock in the middle.
The two pics were taken years apart and i still managed to have mud on them, lol. Knocked the big clumps off though.
They hold up pretty well. I haven't dropped onto a rock with them but i have drug them over the rocks with no damage besides gouges and scratches.
The fact that they are removable came in very handy with all the work on it lately. They were off the truck and stacked in the corner for most of a year.
We had to modify them a bit when we reinstalled them as the new link mounts interfeered with them.

I run a 37 now. With the new setup it's the biggest i could fit with minimal lift and no trimming.
In the first pic i had the old out of the box Superlift and i was running a 35.

That tone ring looks kinda vulnerable, had any trouble with it? That is a slick and easy work around though.

Ya with all the mud there it looked like a solid chunk of steel lol. But thats a nice, simple, clean setup and looks way tuff. You will be seeing something like it on my rig in the near future, just all out of square stalk. Cheaper and easyer to work with:flipoff2: IMO

Good eye.
Yeah, no doubt it's asking to get torn up. I just recently got it all together and functioning right. The speedo is dead accurate now. It took a while as the third gen ram computers are pretty picky about the speed sensor signal. I had no idea that figuring out a new speed sensor solution for the 14 bolt would be such a challenge. Guys do it on the second gens without much of a problem but its a whole different animal on the third gens.
There is a guy who fabs pinion gaurds for 60's and 14 bolts. I figure it will be a perfect solution for the tone ring as well. Hope to get one ordered in the next few weeks. Or, if i get some time i might try and fab one up at work off of his design.

Thanks again.

Jon, I dont think rock rails alone will be enough, you should probably look into something resembling this:

Are you talking about the bars with the steps? The site doesn't show any rock rails at all. Only the nerf bars.

Those aren't going to do much in the rocks.

I thought so. I have got one of those in the shop with 4.56's that i have been wanting to put in my 2003 ram quad cab. i just haven't figured out weather i can put 8 lug outers on my IFS. I have heard that a SAS on these trucks is a pain in the ass.

Yes...yes it is.
I have yet to see another third gen half ton with a "wheelable" SAS. Seen a couple show trucks but none that would ever be seen on the trail.
The big concern for the rear is getting your speedo working again after you lose the original diff mounted sensor. It throws a light without it and can cause issues. In AZ you can't pass annual emmisions testing with a CEL on so it's fix it or don't drive it on the street.
I got it sorted out but it took a while.
As far as 8 lug outers on your stock IFS...that would take some doing.
