I dont think he has built the huge tube fenders cause he thinks they awesome , Im sure he'd rather not be so wide BUT, He built them so he could keep it semi-street-legal with the new 42"Swampers he's gettin. J Kimmel 10-22-2001, 05:06 PM gotta agree it looks wide. laws or not, it'd be too tight for most trails here in CO.
that looks badass , not to be ignorant or anything, but what's being done? when you posted pics awhile ago, it sorta looked the same... although the fenders look wider now.

The hood has now been cut along with the fire wall, and the whole front has been reinforced. There is a bar from the front hoop back to the firewall and then two other supports from the front fender are know tied in. Also got one wheel well done in the back. Work is going slow, very busy with other things, can't wait for it to be done...

BlueYJ 10-22-2001, 09:51 PM Hell put some sharp blades on the new fenders and then who cares how narrow the trails are. We are all just jealous we dont have a pipe bender. keep us posted on the progess, lookin good from Calif.

smitrock 10-23-2001, 07:19 AM i run something similar to cj's project, mine is full width. you can use the batwings' as rocksliders and pivot points it makes it easier to hit things and slide along them. wheel coverage and i got tired of having rocks and mud flying back and hitting me while i was leaning out the side to look where i was going. it takes a while to get use to the full width axles 9picking lines) but it sure is nice in off camber situations, plus i am running 38's with only a soa lift, big tires and a low center of gravity.
Military Jeeper 10-23-2001, 08:31 AM You still aren't done with your SAS crack head????
Hurry your silly @ss up and get it finished so I can go wheeling with you when I come home in the 4Runner.
Oh ya...bought a 94 YJ Wrangler over here ....will tell you about that later though, long story.
jeepgod 10-23-2001, 09:06 AM sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!
am considering something similar.. just not as wide.. pondering a few options.. right now i am leaning towards cutting the hood.. and mating the fenders up on it.. had oringinally thought about the tube fenders..
mmmm.. i might lean back towards that.. beefier.. wont have to worry about pounding out ever little dent then..
great job guys!!!!

Grim Reaper 10-23-2001, 11:28 AM Looking foward to running across you in Tellico and see what it looks like. That's a major amount of BALLS to cut up a rig as nice as that one was to make a step up like that. Would it not have been easier to hack the fenders off a old K5? heheh.
Get us some pics of it finished and on the trail!
Flatty 10-23-2001, 12:06 PM Well I gotta say that has function written all over it, regardless of how it looks... I am running full width in my Flatty right now, but I would never make the body any wider than it already is. I like having a narrow body for the Flatty, that way I get less body damage and it will hold me up less. I amy not like it, but it sure is inginuity at its finest. Is it possible to make quick disconnect fenders for it. that way you can drive on the street that way, and take them onff on the trail.

Dents add character!!

Flatty 10-23-2001, 12:21 PM They do add character, but also they tend to kill a body after a while. Why do you think I am getting rid of the body and going tubes. I never had a rig I did not dent to all high heaven at some point.
