This upgrade is for those of us who have the closed cooling system and keep having problems with the crappy stock coolant cap on the pressure bottle.
I was searching another forum when I found some posts from back in 2003-2004, talking about using the coolant cap from a Volvo 940 Turbo. All you have to do is use it in place of the stock cap. You will also need to make sure that your stock bottle is still in good condition.
I put this cap on a couple days ago and have been driving the Jeep around town to test the new cap. With the stock cap My temps were about 200-210*, and the bottle always looked like the coolant was ready to spew out when I was done driving. There was also always a small puddle of coolant on the top of the bottle. With the new Volvo cap, my temps have stayed around 195-200* while driving and idling. Also the coolant level on the bottle only rises about .25" from half full. And there are no signs of leaking coolant.
The part number for the cap is 9445462. It was $45 from the Volvo dealer with tax. You can get them for about $12 online, but they are the cheap chineese caps that will probably only last a week like the cheap chineese imitation Jeep cap did, before I went and got one from the Jeep dealer.
Here are the pics of the cap.
