That all sounds right to me, but I do believe in these years they used the BA10/5 manual transmission IF it's a manual. Don't know if Sahara's had both or just auto's so I'm throwing that in there. These Dana 35's may also be the ones without c-clips.

mudcedes2k is right about the manual trans. I have that piece of shit in my 88 YJ Sahara and while I'm lucky enough to have one that shifts pretty good, it leaks like a sieve and there's not much that can be done about it.

Maybe for a late model YJ, the 87-91 YJs had the most problems. The particular year you are looking at, had some of the worst.

Not worth it IMO

thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate it. I have always wanted to switch back to a wrangler, couldnt afford one back when I bought the sammi, so was tossing the idea around, heres what I was emailed.

1988 jeep wrangler Sahara edition 4.2 leader straight six 123k milesno dents some scratches. Hard top, two bikini tops. After market Rims with 31'' BF Goodrich tires, after market tinting, high jack, new plugs, new plug lines, rebuilt power steering about six months ago.A very clean jeep, runs good, know leaks and the oil is changed every three thousand miles. the color is a type of green on the outside and the inside and hard top are both light brown color. And the interior is in awesome shape.

If the body and frame are really clean, it is a decent start for a build.

Could be an NP207 tcase.

looked at the Jeep the other day, pretty much how it was described, but it has a weber carb for whatever thats worth...still considering it, winters a coming and the hard top would be nice...:smokin:

Weber isn't bad considering when you pull it, sell it, and install a MC2100 you'll probably come out ahead.

thats what I read earlier today...I really dont want to step back as far as buildup goes, going from semi-built back to stock, but I honestly dont go wheelin but maybe 2 times a year, I get home and my wife goes out the door to work, plus she works weekends, so planning trips is a pain with my two little kids...I definetly have time to do another build. Also I would much rather have a built Jeep than a built sammi in the end....decisions, decisions....
