: Body roll

Is it normal to have some body roll when turning hard? It sort of feels like a poor 4 link job. If I use the rear winch to suck down a bit the roll is not near as bad. The rear is inboarded to about 30''.

your always going to have some body roll on a leaf sprung rig that has soft suspension.

Usually worse with locked diff. If you have open diff or unlocked ARB not quite as bad.

Thanks for the input, the roll did'nt worry me I just was'nt sure if I had done something wrong.

We have next to none. FWIW the higher the rig is the more will be present, and you have a higher CG, and more leverage on the springs. Its really not a big deal, just a comfort thing for some.

Yes, "Mr. Smarty Smiley guy" we do. Its minimal enough to haul butt into a shar turn, say 25-30, and make a 90 degree turn. It makes the passenger nervous at 50 yards out, at 10, they are grabbing everything in sight, and legs are getting stiff! We'll see what is does with the new suspension, Im curious to find out.

Tarbaby, what king of lockers do you have? Like Hobie said, there are alot of factors but a spool in the back will make it body roll on hard concrete alot.

Dt is right, we're ARB rear, and run with it off most of the time. With it on, handling gets much worse.

I agree that te body roll is worse if your locked in the rear. When mine was spooled in the rear it had quite a bit, and got alot less with the ARB.

I'm welded in the rear and detroit in the front. I took it up on the mountain across from my house yesterday and while I was wheeling it was'nt that noticable. The roll is much more noticable when I was just driving around testing things out.

I found out why I had so much roll. My rear shackle mounts did not match my front mounts. Fixed that today and it made a huge diffrence.

I don't understand. What did you fix?

When I made my in board mounts they were 30.5 inches, I f**ked up and made my rear shackle hangers 28''. There was a 1.5'' differance from front hanger to rear hanger on my rear springs. I matched the hangers up like it should have been and it corrected my body roll.

See how easy it was for me to get off a bit. Anyways, got it fixed and made everything much better.

You talking about width across the chassis right? So you rear springs were triangulated? :D Glad you got it fixed.

Yeah, triangulated and triangulated does NOT work on leaf springs. Rookie mistake.
