What do you expect, it only has like 6 teeth! The shaft is rather large though, is it a Dana 60? As for the ring gear, it wont look funny like the pinion, just full of teeth!

Actually I think the ring gear is roughly 18.2375" thick. :flipoff2:

My 5.88 9" pinion is way larger than my 60 5.88 pinion!!
7.17 have 5 teeth? 5.88 have 6 (depending on manufacturer)
