So bought a new lift pump today from the local kenworth dealer 92.61$. I got it home gettin ready to put it in and took a closer look at it and lone and behold cast in the side it says made in china. This is some crap I bought the cummins pump because I didn't want a cheap knock off.:mad3:

So I guess I am going to take it back cause I'm not gonna put that crap in my truck then have to change it in six months.

I have seen some pumps out there made by flag which is german so I've heard. What pumps have you guys used and had good success with no ticking noise good pressure?

I am workin with a 98 12V

Thanks

That is what I was gonna buy but no one had one in stock in my area. How much was the case pump?

I took the pump back and got my money back. The one on my truck is carter so I would like to find another carter pump.

I replaced the pump in my 98 12V earlier this year and had to go to Cummins to get a non China pump, it was uner 100$ from Cummins Southern Plains here in Houston in stock.

My opinion is to contact vulcan performance. I just put in an airtex in a 24 valve. VERY easy job.

You could also go with a FASS or Air Dog pump, both high quality pumps that'll keep the fuel flowin

If you want to spend the money I would recomend the Air dog. You will gain the added fuel filtration and water seperation. However the P pumps on the 12 valves run forever, They are NOT as likely to fail as the 14 valve VP pumps do.

I've had my FASS for a year now, need to change the filter and empty the water seperator. I'm very happy with it.

I found a carter pump on rockauto.com but they want 180 they also have a pump from airtex which I think is made in IL. Autozone also sells airtex and napa usually sells federal mogul/carter stuff but I will have to give them a call.

I did do some fuel system work last weekend bypassed the fuel heater completely and replaced the soft lines at the engine this really helped how the truck starts it fires off alot quicker know. I ended up taking the inlet fitting off the lift pump and cutting the half inch flare off and welding a stainless 1/4 pipe fitting to it with some 309 rod which is good for mild to stainless welds. This will be nice cause then I can thread a pipe to AN fitting into the pump and run AN fittings when I upgrade the fuel filter.

Seems like when I stretch the overflow valve spring the ticking stops so I have a new one on the way. The idle pressure is kinda high with the spring stretched so hopefully a new one will make a change.

I think i paid like 65 or 80 bucks at the IH dealer..... but i get a discount. you might be looking at closer to 100 bucks then.
