: BII's rears?
BeefCakeScout 10-05-2008, 05:09 PM Anybody used these on an XJ? I searched everywhere, but can only find people who use them on "other" rigs. As i said before in another post, My rancho's suck nutz. I can definitely get them put on, but don't wanna waste time fabbing crap up if its gonna be a waste.
Any input? If not, i'm just gonna do it. At least next time this comes up there will be an answer.
David Taylor 10-05-2008, 05:25 PM Are you talking about a shock ? A little more info please
BeefCakeScout 10-05-2008, 08:58 PM Sorry. I was refering to Bronco II rear springs and took it for granted that most of my personal friends just call them B II's(B2). They are a little bit longer and would require moving the wheelbase back 3-4 inches from what i figure.
BeefCakeScout 10-07-2008, 12:52 PM OK......I'll be the first then. Found them at my local pick n pull for 20 bucks. I'll let you guys know in a couple weeks how they go.
IROK Cherokee 10-07-2008, 09:18 PM They'd be REAL soft. Plan on a wrp bar if ya don't have one. If you turn them backwards, you'd be longer than reversed XJ springs.
BeefCakeScout 10-09-2008, 11:17 AM I'm not worried about the wheelbase, as long as it doesn't get too long. I don't plan to run bigger than 35"s, but likely 33"s because thats what the class rules call for. so i don't wanna get too long. But how soft are we talking about?
IROK Cherokee 10-09-2008, 07:45 PM I don't recall the exact pds/in but I could stand on them out of the B2 and compress them a bunch. Like 3". They have only 4 leaves. The long side was way long. I'll have to see if I have any left tomorrow and get you some measurements.
BeefCakeScout 10-10-2008, 01:04 PM I could always go with a ranger spring. From what i've read, they are the same size but with a thicker/stiffer leaf. Same price at my J/Y
HahnsB2 10-12-2008, 06:56 PM Ranger rears are about the same as B2 rears, check out some 4 door explorer rears, they're a fair bit stiffer than ranger/b2 springs.
builder 11-18-2008, 10:57 PM Go to general leaf spring site
b11 springs rated at #1200,xj's #700 or 750. rangers about the same as the b11. good info there.
BeefCakeScout 11-19-2008, 12:25 PM Ranger rears are about the same as B2 rears, check out some 4 door explorer rears, they're a fair bit stiffer than ranger/b2 springs.
Unless I measured wrong, sploder springs are shorter(it was a 4 door). The bII's are a bit longer than the XJ's. Should pull the wheelbase back a couple inches and improve shackle angle.
Cool to see this thread pop back up. I haven't been able to work on it for a couple months, but should be starting again ina few weeks:D
builder 11-19-2008, 03:21 PM b11,ranger & exploder are the same in most applications. general leaf spring. if you don't want to stretch it, buy a b11 front hanger or grab one from the boneyard and weld it on 2.5 inches forward of the xj's and your in buisness. theres also the 70-96 dodge van option which gives you almost perfect shackle angel and basically no fabbin. use the main or complete 1/2 ton packs.
BeefCakeScout 11-19-2008, 03:28 PM I actually like the idea of getting a little stretch. plus the extra couple inches will greatly improve my stock shackle angle. The only problem is they might be TOO long. But I can fab so i won't sweat it too much. I have til april before the next comp.
builder 11-19-2008, 06:54 PM You will get the shackle angle with all 3 of the leafs mentioned moving the front hanger 3 inches and mount the rears in the stock position with a boomerang shackle. they are approximately 26x31. xj 23x 28 5/8. just some food for thought. dodge van mains are 23x 31 which will give good shackle angle also.enjoy figuring it out.
