This is my project i am working on right now!
I am choping the back end of my 1999 XJ and turning the cargo area into a truck bed. I need ideas as to how much it will cost me to paint the new area to match the rest of the truck. i dont expect to get it perfect but i would like for it to be close and look good. as much as you're willing to spend. you can rattle can it and get "close" or you can buy factoy paint and get "close" or pay someone else to get "close". regardless, your paint has faded a bit so you'll really only get "close"

So i souldnt try spending mor than a couple hundred at most?

Like you say it will become a truck bed so think of all the stuff gonna be rolling around dingin up the paint. Id go with a truck liner of some sort for the cargo area and match the c-pillar/roof etc to wat you have.

we also added a hoop behind the rear window with downbars but by the time we finished it was too dark to bother with pics, Choptopxj will be sending some pics and I will post them up also

I did not think there would be enough but it has lots of room, head sits about 6" from the glass which was my biggest concern and still has as much height as the xj had before

What did you do for the rear shoulder belts. oh ya looks great. i am thinking of doing the same thing. i had a labor day roll that makes mine a perfect candidate for the rear chop.

did not put them back in, he decided to just put some lap belts instead

How is the roll bar attatched?

it is welded to the top of the 1/4 panels, the inside and top panels are 1/8 plate steel that it is mounted on and seam welded all the way around, not the strongest setup but should work fine for his use, I wanted to extend the cage inside but he did not want to go that far into it

Don't let anything out of your shop unless you have been paid. Make sure a personal check clears as well. I used to work for a resto shop and had this problem. He wrote a check then did a stop payment. Too bad the idiot borrowed the shop trialer to take it home and never unloaded the car. I went back and retrieved the trailer.

X2 .... Since a Mechanic's Lein it Usually has to sit like 30 or 60 days. If no Payment then you can file , and then if they still don't pay it's your's.

I will reseach my options, I highly doubt this turd would bother showing up to court so any judgement would be easy to get. I just have to research what I can do once I have a judgement

In SC it can be a real bitch to get a mechanics lien. I own a small auto shop and the few times I have gotten a mechanics lien it has cost me $200-300 and taken a few months to go through, plus I have to go to court to do it. I hope your state is more cooperative. Good luck.
