View Full Version : Breaker size
Just wondering what the eletrical guru's say. I got a Hobart 180 welder and Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 39 plasma. I was wondering what size breaker I sould run. I just got the plasma and I have been running the Hobart on a 30 amp breaker. Is the 30 amp o.k. or should I go down to a 20 amp. Thanks in advance

It should say somewhere on the machine or in the owners manual what the recommended breaker size is.

On 120V, looks like a 30A CB for the Plasma, if your running 220/230/240V, a 15A CB would be fine.
And it looks like your Hobart wants a 20A CB if its 120 or 230V

The 30A CB is fine, but a 20A would work just as well. Just make sure your cords etc are rated for what ever breaker you have, the machine itself won't care. With the 30A the likely hood are better at using them both at the same time... but the odds of that in a typical 1-man garage are slim.
