: Weekend Carnage
Azrckcrawler 08-06-2002, 07:53 AM Well, my bud Erik and I tried to run some more of the 6th Day last weekend. We ended up leaving with our tails between our legs  Right off the bat I broke a rear shackle hanger, should have called it a day but I welded it back on and continued.

Check out that tire flex.....

Carnage alley. Erik sacrificed a front axle and u-joint to the rocks.... FWIW he's running D44, V8, 4:1 (via dual cases) and 36's.

I broke the repaired shackle hanger trying to get past him to winch him backwards, then while trying to pull him out I broke the drivers side hanger, welded both back together with 3 batteries, and then broke them both again before saying F@!$ it and chained the rear axle to the frame.

0ILBURNER 08-06-2002, 09:27 AM Spanky Spanky! :D
You must admit you guys have been on the 'plus side' for drivetrain damage for quite a while...
Are you still running that 'borrowed' 6:1 case?
Shrock 08-06-2002, 10:15 AM Me, Mitsuzu, Hank, and some other guys went out to Barnwell Mountain this weekend. It was AFRICA HOT.

I got my very own 6:1 case, also have spare front axles and a hub onboard :D I know the clock is ticking, I've got to be approaching 60-70 runs on these birfields. After the last two years my Zuk is really showing signs of age, lots of cracked welds, I usually spot and fix a couple before each run. When I get back from vacation I think it's time for a mini overhaul.

Temps have been bouncing around between 95-106 with 30-50% humidity. The humidity was killing us on Saturday. Everything opened up a couple weeks back so we've been running some stuff again. I think we're going to finish opening this trail this fall when it gets cooler, we got out there at 5am but that didn't do any good......

 Wow, that's humid for you guys! What happend to your 'dry heat' ... :)
Right now it's 96 and 43% here. Kinda takes the fun out of it.... The folks up north need to get on the ball and find us some place cool to play during the summer.. ;)

Well, AZ and NM experience one of the biggest wind shifts on the planet, we call it monsoon season. Warm, moist air gets sucked up from the Gulf of Mexico and we get tons of lightning, dust storms (walls of dust), high winds and sometimes rain. The whole time this goes on the humidity climbs. I think the whole "dry heat" thing is just a slogan to attract tourists :) It'll dry out when the winds shift again, maybe lat Aug/Sept?

Just wanted to let you know that you suck :flipoff2:
I may suck, however upon my arrival back to uncivilization, I will be geared......and you'll still be flooding out on steep inclines!!
:flipoff2: :D
slider 08-08-2002, 10:58 PM Now those are some Fk'n rocks dude!!!
Hank...let's see you get the Disco in there!!??
No way. The disco has become an overbuilt cruiser.
You don't know how hard it was last weekend with a burned clutch in the Zuk, not firing up the disco and wheeling. But I did the grown up thing and rode with Shrock (he has a wicked-bad rig).....
Hank
zukstur 08-09-2002, 02:11 PM Glad to see you and Eric back wheeling again. Tod and I went and ran upper heldarodo and upper proving grounds last week end . we both broke on upper P. tod broke a dana 44 left inner axel on the first obstical and I broke a right rear knuckle joint on the shute. thos 6:1 really put a lot of torq on things.
