So after having the catalytic converter stolen off my T-100 ($1500+ part  ) and now getting a lawn job done last weekend, I want to put in surveilance cameras on my yard and garage. I haven't really started research yet, but I am curious what you guys have used? I am not looking to spend a ton of money, just want a couple extra eyes to record bad people trying to fuck with my shit.

I use SWANN cameras and transmitters for my house and my jobsites, pretty cheap and get the job done. Mine are all wireless night vision cameras that record to hi capacity DVR's with a viewing screen. Can record continuously or turn on with motion.
Wireless really doesn't buy you anything since you still have to run power to the cameras. Might check costco for partial kits.

I was looking at this...but I was hoping to spend a little less. Problem is the features I want are expensive  I want night vision, and motion sensors. I dont need super quality picture, but I need good enough to identify perps.

most video cameras are IR sensitive even if they're not advertised as such.

to test it, get a regular old IR television remote. aim it at the camera and press a button.

look at the monitor and if you see flashing, it's IR sensitive.

if it works, get some of those IR emitting LED spotlights. just be aware that the ones not listed as nightvision won't be as good at it, but they ususally don't completely suck.

That's a decent looking kit, Keith, but even though the hdd is smaller, I'd go with this one: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11298154&whse=BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BC|79&N=4001405%204294945656&Mo=2&No=2&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav= . Swann makes a good product with a decent price. Also, it comes with 50ft cables vs 30ft. Of course if you are a cheap-o like me, you'd have a mutt of a system.

I'm using the following:
Ikegami and Diebold Cameras
Newegg generic enclosures
Swann DVR card
and wiring remnants left over from installs done through work.
